An exciting opportunity has arisen for an individual to undertake the role of Business Operations Manager for the Athena Management Organisation.
This is an exciting and challenging role that requires the successful candidate to Co-ordinate the management of operational delivery throughout the Athena Management Organisation, including deputising for the Programme Director, supplier management, shaping and implementation of the system, ensuring that all work meets the 9 Athena forces strategic agendas and deliver high quality services that support policing plans and objectives.
You will plan and co-ordinate Athena Service Delivery across the consortium, establishing performance standards, determine priorities, develop working partnerships with key stakeholders, external suppliers and contractors, plan appropriate deployment of resources and provide for effective monitoring and evaluation, in order to ensure that the optimum service is provided to customers.
You will establish, assess and manage risks, issues and threats to performance within Service Delivery activities, addressing and advising on tactical vulnerabilities and ensuring appropriate and informed decisions are taken in relation to threats and vulnerabilities. As well as acting as the subject matter expert for Athena in order to provide advice and guidance to governance boards, all senior stakeholders, in support of strategic decision making.
The Business Operations Manager directs and manages the Athena Management Organisation staff, providing leadership, promoting effective communication, undertaking recruitment, overseeing staff appraisals, development processes, health and welfare and training, in order to maximise individual and team performance, ensuring that staff contribute effectively towards the organisations business aims.
Smarter Working/Agile Working:
Kent - The role will offer flexibility in terms of place of work, including the potential to work from home for those who would like to. In the event that home working is agreed for the successful candidate, there will be a requirement to regularly attend a designated ‘Team Zone’ location on average one or two days a week, as agreed with the line manager. Currently the designated Team Zone for this role is located at Harlow Police Station.
Essex - Successful applicants for this role will be defined as a Home based Agile Worker - Works predominately (80% or more) at home only working in the office when required to do so. The role will offer flexibility in terms of place of work, including home working. The extent of flexibility will be agreed through individual assessment with the line manager to assess operational requirements and individual’s suitability for home working. In the event that home working is agreed for the successful candidate, there will be a requirement to regularly attend the contractual workplace.

Kent Police and Essex Police have separate salary grading systems therefore the salary for this position will be dependent on which home office force you are appointed to. This will be discussed with the successful applicant before a final offer is made.
