An exciting opportunity for a motivated person to join the Trust and play a key role in securing the future of a number of nationally significant historic chapels.
The Churches Conservation Trust (CCT) has an international award-winning reputation in heritage conservation and regeneration for its own estate. For this reason CCT has been contracted to deliver a programme of work for Historic Chapels Trust (HCT). HCT owns and cares for 20 of the most significant Nonconformist and Catholic chapels no longer in regular use by their congregations, all listed at Grade I and Grade II*.
Key to the project is a programme of c.£2m of urgent repairs to the chapels which are most at risk, funded by the National Heritage Memorial Fund (NHMF) through their Cultural Assets Fund (CAF). As the project manager you will lead on the development and delivery of a number of repair projects; from appointing and managing the professional teams, agreeing priorities and the scope of repairs to making client decisions on site on behalf of HCT Trustees. You will also oversee the work of the HCT Estate Officer who is responsible for the day to day asset management of all 20 chapels.
As well as this you will be part of the CCT’s national conservation team. Along with your energy and a passion for heritage, you will have a relevant professional qualification and be educated to degree level in an associated discipline. You will have experience in the field of historic building repair and specialist knowledge of conservation, as well as a proven track record of project management (client side) in the heritage construction sector. As you’ll be working throughout England it is essential you have a full driving licence.
