Data Analyst- Inside IR35

Contract Term: 6 Months

This post holder will support the development of the digital application of the Mid-Rise Remediation Scheme (MRS).

The core objective of MRRS is to remediate fire safety risks in the external walls of eligible buildings through the provision of grant funding to responsible entities.

For buildings that are eligible, MRRS will provide grant funding for the design and delivery of remediation works that will rectify the fire safety risk of the external wall. The Applicant will be required to deliver an effective and efficient solution that minimises disruption for residents and leaseholders.


The individual will be required to work regularly and closely with the MRRS team, to understand and interpret their needs, as well as the rest of the Digital Team in order to develop these requirements into practical solutions for improving and managing data. You will be comfortable in collecting and analysing data from multiple sources and converting them into meaningful insights, that will ultimately drive business decisions and be at the heart of our data culture.

As a Data Analyst your main responsibilities would be:

  • Work with Data and Digital colleagues to ensure that data models and structures used in internal and external applications and services are fit for purpose and follow agreed data standards. Model curated data set in facts and dimensions. Work with engineering team to productionise curated data.
  • Identify relevant data sources. Collect, manage, clean, organise and aggregate data to provide insights and intelligence to support decision making across the agency.
  • Develop reporting needs for Homes England and Department of Levelling Up, Housing and Communities (DLUHC) - to be defined.
  • Maintain, expand and continually review the core data assets and environment, manage new and existing data updates, and publish intelligence to make it accessible while continuing to improve data workflows, automation and cross-system connectivity.
  • Implement agreed standards (e.g. information security, data quality) to ensure developed intelligence and data can be easily interpreted by others and adopt appropriate change management processes for data and systems changes and manage associated risk.
  • Work closely with stakeholders to define data requirements, design and create prototypes.
  • Actively participate in a data practitioner community of interest, sharing knowledge and industry best practice with others
  • Actively contribute to the work across the Digital team to develop self-service analytical and reporting capabilities.
  • Adhere to Homes England development standards and principles.

Essential Criteria:

  • Data Modelling – understand different ways to model data to maximise its use and value. Ensure data is modelled appropriately, and modelling standards exist and are complied with.
  • Ability to provide insights through visualisations in Power BI expertise a must (including DAX and Power Query)
  • Proven working experience working with SQL and relational data systems.
  • Proven experience working with large and complex data environments.
  • Evidence of adaptability; able to learn new technologies and methodologies quickly.
  • Demonstrable experience in a role that includes problem solving, analytical and logical skills.
  • Able to translate business need into technical solutions.
  • Excellent skills Power BI, Dax and Power Query with the ability to create insightful visualisations. You can ensure adherence to organisation-wide standards and guidelines and suggest appropriate ways to improve them.
  • Efficiently collecting, manipulating, and presenting large and complex datasets
  • Data modelling, data cleansing, and data enrichment skills
  • Designing and building data infrastructure/automated reporting tools
  • Comfortable giving definition to ambiguous problems, can do this independently with limited guidance.
  • Verbal/written communication & data presentation skills, including experience of effectively communicating with both business and technical teams.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to collect, organise, analyse, and disseminate significant amounts of information with attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Logical, curious, and methodically minded.
  • Quality assurance, validation and data linkage abilities.

Desirable Criteria:

  • Experience working with cloud technologies, in particular Microsoft Azure
  • Experience of working with API’s
  • Experience of working in an Agile environment
