Right now we’re looking for an skilled Data Analyst to join the Customer Assurance and Analytics team, who are a centre of excellence for providing assurance that our processes always meet the needs of our customers. This specific role will be focussed on building data-led monitoring solutions, using data engineering and coding skills, that help us to do this work brilliantly, working in partnership with all our product and process teams.
Job Description
A bit about our team
Our Consumer Banking businesses are all about helping people achieve their financial ambitions, supporting the Group’s purpose to Help Britain Prosper.
Whether it’s saving, spending or borrowing, we want to help our personal and business customers navigate their personal journey.
The Customer Assurance and Analytics team is a key part of our Consumer Relationships business, and we’re currently growing our data capabilities to help protect customers and the bank from risk or harm. Our data analysts build data-led monitoring to provide assurance that processes are working as expected for customers. We're passionate about innovation and our goal is to achieve the right balance of human and machine intelligence in risk management, as we build and develop innovative tech and data-led solutions for risk management, monitoring and assurance.
So what does this role actually do?
  • You’ll develop sophisticated data-driven assurance to reflect current banking processes
  • Lots of interaction with the teams that own these processes to ensure we build tests to meet their requirements and speak regularly about what you’ve found and what that means for customers
  • Investigating when things that don’t look right, using data queries, conversations with key parties and understanding to root cause
  • You’ll continuously identify and progress improvements through data and automation
  • Providing technical support for ad-hoc pieces of analysis for the management team
  • And you’ll be supported to grow personal capabilities through formal and informal training opportunities
What we’d love you to have experience wise
We're keen to see diverse and varied applications, however as this is a technical role we'll need to see evidence of these skills and capabilities to consider you for interview;
  • A high proficiency in Microsoft Office and experience working with large datasets in a similar analytical or data manipulation role
  • Experience of design and production of management information reports
  • Good understanding of how data and insight is used in decision making
  • Can work independently to collate and analyse data using determined tools, methods and formats
  • Previous risk management experience and knowledge of banking products and regulation is desirable but not essential.
  • While we’ll support you to build your expertise, you should have experience of using key technologies such as SQL/Teradata/SAS, and data warehouses, being comfortable using these tools for data wrangling.
What we’d be keen to see in your work style
Firstly, you have a curious mind. You enjoy exploring data and are inquisitive in nature. You use your analytical thinking and problem solving to get to the source of the issue.
You’re big on collaborating and are quick to establish and build communities of meaningful relationships across our division and beyond.
You love to learn. You’ll continuously look at ways to develop your skills and enjoy finding new ways of doing things to keep moving forwards.
And you'll also have a gift for clear communication to explain findings, getting the balance right between providing detail and keeping it simple. This may be in written reports or as a verbal presentation.

Unlike with some other Returner Programmes, this is the offer of a permanent role in a supportive working environment from day one. Since the launch of our award winning programme we’ve hired more than 140 professionals back into leadership roles.
We welcome our Returners into teams committed to help you reimagine your career and rebuild your workplace expertise. To support you with it, we’ll also provide a 12-week programme crafted to help you restore your skills, regain your confidence and learn more about the way we work as an organisation.
Together we’ll make it possible.
