Overview of the role

To support the new mobile healthcare unit’s initiative by making sure mobile health care units are delivered and collected to the correct sites and at the correct times.

Your main responsibilities as our mobile healthcare unit delivery team will be the movement of our mobile health care units to nationwide locations.

You will deal with a variety of stakeholders from other drivers to schedulers to the home delivery management team and external partners.

You will need to be IT literate as there is training involved which is online based and we use a variety of technology to complete the job such as Sat-Nav’s. You also need to complete daily vehicle checks, reporting and defects or incidents in a timely manner.

  • To be part of a 2-person team covering between 2 and 4 shifts per week completing the movement of Well’s mobile health clinics around the UK.
  • Team will have an allocated a mobile clinic, a chase vehicle, fuel card and mobile phone. All vehicles and equipment are fully maintained.
  • Centrally scheduled you will typically have schedules available up to 6 weeks in advance, however we work in a changing environment and flexibility is key.
  • To work with managers and support teams to create effective schedules up to 6 weeks in advance.

  • To keep accurate records of all vehicle checks and maintenance records
  • To be in your provided uniform with all appropriate ID whilst representing Well
  • To be brand ambassadors for Well at all times.

Problem Solving & Change:

  • Generally reacting to day-to-day queries, with an ability to be flexible up to a week ahead.
  • Reacting to unexpected circumstances (e.g., emergency delivery or colleague absence) and re-organising things quickly to ensure minimal disruption to the service provided
  • Ability to plan routes to minimise travelling time and mileage while ensuring delivery and collection schedules are met

Key knowledge and skills required:

  • Experience in driving long wheel-based vehicles, ideally up to 7.5 tones.
  • A calm and methodical approach to problem solving
  • Able to follow clear instructions
  • IT literate for training and satellite navigation system

As a Delivery Driver, you’ll build strong relationships with our pharmacy teams and local customers who can’t get to our stores for their prescriptions or healthcare products. These are often some of the most vulnerable members of the community, and our home delivery service is vital to their wellbeing. Working closely with the Delivery Team Manager and our store teams, your local knowledge and a passion for delivering a great service will ensure that your valuable cargo gets to the right patient at the right time!

It is essential you have a Full UK Driving Licence and have the Right to Work in the UK. The ideal candidate will be able to drive a Luton Style vehicle, have good knowledge of the area and also have the flexibility to deliver the prescriptions to locations at varied timeslots.

Please note that due to the nature of this role, the successful candidate will be required to complete an enhanced DBS check before employment can commence. This includes both spent and unspent convictions, as well as information held by local police deemed as relevant to the role. Employment is conditional on satisfactory DBS clearance.
