You’ll join a specialist security team that is a trusted partner to governments worldwide. Our customers depend on us to not only understand their needs and the technology required to connect them, but also to keep our networks safe, secure and resilient. Data Science has a central role to play within this, by helping us understand what is happening within our network, and to heading-off problems that might compromise our customers’ experience.
Our Data Science career path aims to develop the blend of skills required to apply your academic knowledge in a business context, while broadening your experience in advanced Data Analytics techniques that can help us counter Cyber Security threats to our network or help us detect and localise network problems. This might involve applying time-series analysis, graph algorithms, statistical inference or a range of Machine Learning techniques, working in languages such as Python, Scala and C++, to help us solve challenging problems that are at the heart of our growth.
Job role:
- Analyse data at scale using Big Data platforms such as Spark and Hive
- Develop novel, operationally focussed, analytical techniques using advanced Data Science techniques were appropriate
- Provide input to project-level and wider strategy on Data Science
- Under the direction of a project lead, working collaboratively with customers and stakeholders to build close working relationships and build domain knowledge
You’ll need:
- An understanding that complex data that is the life-blood of our business
- A solid grounding in mathematics, statistics and/or computational algorithms OR, if your degree is outside a traditional STEM subject – a passion for Data Science and the foundational knowledge necessary to grow within our multi-disciplinary teams.
- An interest in applying your knowledge in a fast-moving business environment and be keen to learn allied skills in software development, Big Data technologies, Cyber Security and large-scale digital networks.
- The nature of our work means you will need a Security (DV) clearance, so we will undertake checks before starting the role with us. Don’t worry a member of the Recruitment Team will talk you through this.

Due to the sensitive nature of this role you may be required to undergo DV (Developed Vetting) level Security Clearance (https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/united-kingdom-security-vetting-clearance-levels/national-security-vetting-clearance-levels).
An allowance of £5k per annum may be payable monthly while you hold this DV and continue to work in a role that requires that level of security clearance.
