The Engagement Assistant plays an integral supportive role within the Town Council’s Engagement & Library Team. Managed by the Engagement Officer, the Engagement Assistant will be working towards the team’s collective aim of being a highly valued link between the Town Council and the community of Camborne, supporting communications, community projects and events.

Duties & Responsibilities of the Engagement Assistant:

· Supporting the Engagement & Library Team in running events and public consultations, including assisting the Events Manager with co-ordination of Town Council events and events in collaboration with BID and external organisations.

· Handle enquiries from members of the public, outside bodies and Councillors on the telephone, email or via social media.

· Keep the Town Council website, poster boards and social media platforms up to date, ensuring events and project information are included to keep all interested parties updated on progress and current affairs.

· Assist with the designing promotional content (digital and print) for marketing material including social media, newsletters and programmes to support engagement and the promotion of the Parish.

· Monitor engagement across digital platforms and provide monthly reports to the Engagement Officer.

· To co-ordinate and produce the Council’s bi-monthly electronic newsletter, and to promote its availability throughout the parish and beyond.

· Support the Town Council on any specific projects and initiatives that will support community engagement including the Town Deal, Neighbourhood Plan, and Climate Action.

· To undertake a range of clerical/administrative duties within the Town Council Office as required.

Job Purpose:

To support the Engagement Officer and Town Council in providing a link between the Town Council and the local community of Camborne, supporting community projects and events.

Duties & Responsibilities:

· Keep the Town Council website, poster boards and social media platforms up to date, ensuring events and project information are included to keep all interested parties updated on progress and current affairs.

· Assist with the designing promotional content (digital and print) for marketing material including social media, newsletters and programmes to support engagement and the promotion of the Parish.

· Monitor engagement across digital platforms and provide monthly reports to the Engagement Officer.

· To co-ordinate and produce the Council’s quarterly electronic newsletter, and to promote its availability throughout the parish and beyond.

· Support the Town Council on any specific projects and initiatives that will support community engagement including Consultations,Town Deal, Neighbourhood Plan, and Climate Action.

· To undertake a range of clerical/administrative duties within the Town Council Office as required.

· Be present at some Camborne Town Council events and meetings to ensure live social media coverage and first hand experience for the development of blogs/press releases.

· Help the Event Manager to deliver events.

· Supporting on the consultation process with internal and external stakeholders on key projects for the area.

· Market the Town Council and Camborne area, providing press releases relating to positive news stories and engaging on public relation opportunities, representing the Town Council and Camborne area.

· Keep the Town Council website up to date, ensuring events and project information are included to keep all interested parties updated on progress and current affairs.

· Provide a link between the Town Council and local volunteer groups.

· Support the Town Council on any specific projects and initiatives that will support

community engagement.

Essential Attributes

Educational Qualifications

· 5 GCSE”s A-C including English Language

· Previous experience in events and/or marketing

· Qualifications related to events and/or marketing

· Experience/qualification in Adobe software

Skills and Knowledge

  • Excellent oral and written skills, including an ability to relate to and communicate with councillors, staff, members of public and external agencies
  • Good ICT skills including design experience
  • Ability to build and manage effective and resilient relationships with a wide range of stakeholders at all levels inside and outside of the organisation.
  • Ability to work proactively and manage a varied and demanding workload to meet competing demands and tight deadlines and produce high quality work
  • Ability to obtain and understand complex information and communicate it concisely and simply to internal and external stakeholders
  • Ability to respond positively and constructively whilst under pressure
  • Website management knowledge

· Graphic design skills

· Managed or contributed to social media platforms

· Event co-ordination or management experience

· Public speaking/ presentation experience and confidence
