About the Role
We present a fantastic opportunity for a time-served Mechanical Engineer to join our engineering team based at Abercrombie, Alloa.
Playing a critical part of the maintenance team on site, you will have the opportunity be part of a wider network – working alongside our operators and coopers as well as other members of the maintenance team and asset care team.
Reporting to the Maintenance Manager, you will be responsible for the maintenance, repair, and improvement of all mechanical assets across site, including travelling to our Northern Distilleries to provide support where required.
As a first response for support, you will work closely with the maintenance manager, operations teams, CAPEX and other maintenance groups to maximise efficiency of operational assets across site. This includes providing emergency response to plant breakdown situations, where you will respond promptly and efficiently to analyse, fault find and repair using root cause problem solving techniques to ensure downtime is kept to a minimum. The jobholder will also be required to provide maintenance support to our Northern Distilleries, including travel to Islay.
Working Hours
You will cover a core shift pattern, working Monday – Thursday 7.30am – 16.00pm, and Friday 7.30am – 13.30pm.
Key responsibilities:
  • Support the delivery of efficient and effective maintenance on site, including repairs, RCPS and the improvement of assets and their availability.
  • Work Closely with operations teams, CAPEX and other maintenance groups (Mechanical) to maximise efficiency of operational assets.
  • Use of our Computerised Maintenance Management System (SAP-PM) for raising, updating, and recording of maintenance tasks in accordance with a weekly asset care delivery plan.
  • To work with the Maintenance Manager, Site Management and Maintenance Planners to ensure compliance with and delivery of Plant KPI metrics.
  • Deliver all mechanical maintenance activities for respective engineering centre/site in accordance with a weekly/daily asset care delivery plan.
  • Support Maintenance Managers and act as a point of contact for asset care Manufacturing Excellence (TRACC) metric delivery at sites. Lead workstreams that produce results in improving reliability and efficiency, whilst at the same time deliver potential cost savings to the business.
  • Own and drive asset care IMPROVE activity both directly at site and within the asset care community. Actively take part in root cause problem solving (RCPS) activity and provide subject matter expertise to ensure that 100-year fixes are identified, actioned and implemented.
Qualifications/Essentials:
  • HNC in Mechanical Engineering
  • Time-served mechanical engineer
  • Welding and Fabrication experience required
About you
Our ideal candidate will have strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate across all levels. You will be actively engaging with partners and the Maintenance Planning Department to ensure valuable Planned Preventative Maintenance Tasks are at the core of the Maintenance Strategy. You will also be required to participate in Root Cause Problem Solving sessions.

You will be organised and self-reliant, handling your own workload and priorities while solving problems and supporting process and equipment improvement projects.
