Job Description :

Our Vision is to be the UK’s leading innovator of resource recovery and recycling, transforming waste for a climate-positive future.

Are you someone who lives and breathes high performance, leads with ambition, and would like to be part of an organisation that looks after tomorrow? Viridor has a redefined purpose, a bold new Vision, and an ambitious, market-leading strategy. We are investing in the future, and we need a talented team with exceptional people, who believe in each other, to help us achieve this.

Join us, as we rise to the challenge and build a world where nothing goes to waste

Energy Recovery Facilities are vital in supporting the UK’s ambition to reduce waste in an efficient and effective manner, helping to reduce the impact of waste on climate change. After reducing, reusing and recycling as much as possible, our Energy Recovery Facilities (ERFs) provide the infrastructure to efficiently recover energy from residual waste, meaning landfill becomes the last resort.

We have an opportunity at our Glasgow Recycling & Renewable Energy Centre for a Engineering & Maintenance Manager to join our team working 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday 8am to 4pm

The salary for this role will be circa £70,000.00 per year with participation in an annual bonus scheme, in addition to our great range of benefits.

The closing date for applications is 20 March 2023. We encourage all applicants to apply as soon as possible as we may close vacancies early if we receive a high number of applications.

About the role

As our Engineering and Maintenance Manager, you will be fully responsible for the upkeep and maintenance of GRREC ERF, maximising production, minimising downtimes and adhering to full compliance. You will be responsible for all engineering and maintenance aspects of the site, ensuring all maintenance schedules are up to date. Working closely with the Operations Manager, you will work to continually improve facility efficiencies and maintain high productivity.

What are we looking for?

  • Experience in practical implementation of a corporate management system with a flexible approach to ensure that critical work is achieved in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Extensive engineering experience of the process industry or power industry, including the management of PSSR legislation.
  • Experience working with Maintenance Management systems.
  • Strong leadership skills to lead and develop a new team in a start-up scenario with a no compromise approach to health, safety and environmental compliance, preferably at a senior level within a large department.
  • Commercial awareness and budgetary responsibility for maintenance and defect support.
  • Experience of contractor management to deliver against KPI’s.
  • Full UK driving licence.
