Finance Officer for the Independent Food Aid Network (IFAN)

Job Title: Finance Officer

Location: Home-based (UK)

Salary: £29-31,000 per annum pro rata

Hours: 8 hours/1 Day per week

Contract: 12 months

Start date: Mid-March (can be flexible)

Responsible to: IFAN’s Coordinator/Director

BACKGROUND:

The Independent Food Aid Network (IFAN) is an anti-poverty charity and the UK’s network of independent food aid providers including over 550 independent food banks.
Its vision is of a country without the need for charitable food aid where adequate and nutritious food is affordable to all. IFAN’s team supports frontline member organisations in various ways while advocating on their behalf and campaigning for change.

JOB PURPOSE:

To work with IFAN’s Director to run IFAN’s accounts system and record-keeping.

KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Maintaining records for all transactions and income
2. Maintaining records of grant requirements
3. Ensure that grant and restricted donations are appropriately accounted for
4. Review and process invoices linked to our cash first referral leaflet project
5. Process staff expenses

6. Support other employees through any accounting processes
7. Prepare financial statements
8. Process Gift Aid claim forms on monthly basis
9. Work on annual budgets
10.Liaise with independent examiner if needed
11. Commitment to maintaining confidentiality in relation to key financial records including the payroll

Essential and Desirable Candidate Criteria

experience in the charity finance sector

bookkeeping procedures

(creating spreadsheets and charts and using financial
Excel functions)

IFAN’s aims and principles

and ability to work closely with others despite predominantly online working pattern

(ESSENTIAL) Ability to manage your own X
workload, be adaptable to changing priorities and work closely within a close-knit team on an online basis

skills with a methodical approach, accuracy and close attention to detail
