In conjunction with the Engineering Management Team and the Early Careers Team, you will have the opportunity to input into the design of your training scheme to include placements which give an insight into the complete Helicopter Product Life Cycle.

Typically, your placements will consist of 3-6 month rotations across the Engineering department (potentially including a placement within Customer Training) including the opportunity to do an external placement elsewhere in the business. The graduate scheme will give you the opportunity to build on your technical knowledge and also develop soft skills through opportunities which a direct entry position may not be able to offer.

What you will do

The Graduate Scheme will start with an Induction into Leonardo, followed by a team building week (including overnight accommodation) at an offsite location incorporating all Trainee starts. There will also be a Engineering specific induction to ensure that scheme requirements and expectations are fully established.

Working with world-leading specialists, you will increase your technical skills and capability, and develop your academic and practical understanding of the diverse world that is manufacturing & supply chain.

Our Graduates will participate in Software Engineering activities directly applied development of the Mission System, Simulators and Human Machine. In particular, you will:

  • Perform defined engineering design and analysis tasks, required for project, process and departmental purposes using established methods
  • Develop and integrate engineering solutions from design concepts and schemes. Gather and collate relevant technical and commercial information, as directed, to aid/influence design and technical solutions
  • Perform defined requirements capture and analysis, software development, testing, simulator and Human Machine Interface assessment activities to ensure that the engineering solution meets customer requirements
  • Become familiar with software development in an applied and diverse product environment
  • Assist with the creation of software requirements and participate in the over sight of test activity and the creation of documentation, to support the Systems Engineering and qualification process
  • Assist with the development of new technologies, methods, and procedures for business benefit
  • Produce standard engineering documents, reports and qualification statements within agreed formats for work undertaken
  • Investigate assigned customer and product issues to produce a recommendation for their resolution
  • Understand the contribution that your activities have on the improvement of overall aircraft capability
  • Perform engineering tests in our Engineering Simulation facility and rig environments that comply with required processes and procedures, to produce valid engineering data to support the design and qualification process
  • Perform assessment activities to ensure that the engineering solution meets customer requirements
  • Identify and develop improvements to methods and procedures used in your activities
  • Support the interpretation of system and user requirements to develop software requirements in collaboration with our customers

Mandatory

Please note that in order to apply for this opportunity you must be eligible for UK Security Clearance. Normally this is to the level of Security Check (typically known as “SC”) for our business which includes having a minimum of 5 years permanent residency in the UK.

Qualifications

Minimum 2:1 Bachelors or Masters in Computer Science/Aerospace/Electrical & Electronic Engineering/Data Science related subject. We are open to candidates who have an interest and aptitude for software studied as part of a range of engineering and or science based degree types.
