Job Description :

Working in a small design team within the larger marketing department, under the guidance of the Brand Manager, you will bring to life design concepts across Classroom Secrets to help achieve customer retention and recruitment targets and help us reach our goal of all children in England having access to a Classroom Secrets product.

What we’re looking for…

We’re looking for a Graphic Designer to help transform our business, but this is no ‘normal’ or textbook  Designer role. We feel this role would suit two types of people:

1. Those with recent graphic design training who are eager to build their skills and work in a fast-paced environment that allows you to exercise your creativity and prove the impact of what you have to offer to the business. You are looking to learn and grow with the support of the Brand Manager. If this is you, hit apply!

2. Anyone who has been in a Graphic Design role previously.  Maybe you have taken a career break, have redefined your life values and purpose or are looking for a change in culture (just like our Head of Marketing & Customer Engagement did). If this is you, hit apply!

If you are looking for a personally rewarding role, the chance to make a genuine impact on the business and to give something back to society and young people, this really is the role for you.

We require candidates to submit a CV and Portfolio when applying for this role.

Please note: first stage interviews will take place during the week commencing 6th February. Due to the high number of applications for this role, applications made after the 6th February may not be reviewed.

What are you responsible for...

  • Creating engaging campaigns to promote our products across emails, social media and our website including assisting with idea generation, and with delivering still and simple motion graphics and assets
  • Assisting in the design of an exciting new website project under the supervision of the Brand Manager and being a part of the UX/UI team.
  • Working with our product department to design engaging resource materials that are easy to use and appealing to teachers and children. You will use your knowledge of design principles to ensure our resources stand out from the crowd.
  • Creating educational materials for external clients, including the BBC, which will feature on their Bitesize and Teach platforms.
  • Creating attractive internal materials and templates such as presentations, web pages, forms and event invites.
  • Occasionally working on other creative projects across the company which may include video and sound editing.
  • Take responsibility for your professional development
  • Enhancing our review capability amongst customers and schools to ensure that our reputation within the Primary Education sector is optimised
  • Developing strong internal relationships, sharing customer insight and experience

What will you get up to...

  • Freedom to create your own designs and input into the overall creative strategy
  • Work across emails, social media and our website to create engaging design content
  • Devise and implement design concepts to support the launch of our new website
  • Collaborate with product colleagues to support the creation of resources for 3rd party contracts (i.e. BBC Teach & Bitesize)
  • Assist in our ability to support requirements for video and sound
  • Attend weekly team meetings to share good news, resolve issues, agree on actions and identify training needs
  • Innovate, pitch new ideas and execute them as required
  • Live and breathe the vision, mission and values of Classroom Secrets.

What you’re good at…

  • Using a creative process to transform a brief into an engaging and smart visual campaign
  • Using Adobe InDesign, Illustrator and Photoshop - Ideally experience in Adobe Xd, Premier Pro and After Effects
  • Experience in the use of Zoho software, primarily Zoho campaigns, sites and forms would be an advantage but not essential
  • Have a great knowledge of design and can articulate and present creative ideas with confidence
  • Able to work independently and take ownership of their work
  • A good communicator who is happy working in a dynamic environment with several different individuals and small groups
  • Extremely well-organised with the capacity to oversee several jobs at once
  • Self-starter, charismatic and empathetic and a passion to exceed business goals
  • Collaboration with others for your (and their) professional development. We are keen to support your professional development as there is room to grow as the business grows
  • Be able to react (things can change quickly in the market and in the business)
  • Understanding how our products and services can change our customers’ lives for the better
  • Recognising and taking opportunities to optimise your role in addition to the duties listed on this job description
  • Identifying your most productive time of day and utilise this to have success in your role
