ABOUT PMA

PMA is a representative body of the non-clinical sector of the General Practice and Health and Social Care sectors of the NHS with a membership network of over 50,000 members. PMA acts to attract, recruit, retain and progress learners by offering comprehensive career enhancing training and development.

PMA are undergoing a period of controlled and sustained growth therefore we are looking to recruit a new Head of Finance due to an internal transfer. We always recruit with integrity and this post is a fantastic opportunity to join a high performing and friendly small team. We have a flat management structure and are looking for a high level person to fit into our team.

Job Purpose

The Head of Finance role will be based at our Head Office in Alderley Edge and will be an integral part of the Senior Leadership Team. They will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of Finance and providing strategic financial advice and budgetary control across this SME business.

Initially this role is based on a minimum of one day a week (7.5 hours per week on a flexible basis) but you may be required to work additional (paid) hours at busy times as needed by the business or as the company grows.

Main Duties and Responsibilities will include:

  • Monthly management accounts review and presentation to the rest of the Senior Leadership Team.
  • Liaising with external accountants to produce statutory accounts and tax returns.
  • Cash flow reporting.
  • Financial forecasting.
  • Providing high quality commercial finance analysis of the business in consultation with Directors to support decision making.
  • Review of budgetary controls.
  • Management and development of one Finance Assistant studying CIMA.

Where the post will involve working within the regulated activity of clients and/or involve contact with children or vulnerable adults, PMA will be required to complete a criminal record check through the Disclosure & Barring Service (DBS). PMA follows Safer Recruitment, and the necessary checks will be undertaken.

Essential criteria

  • Fully qualified accountant with strong technical skills
  • Strong IT skills and knowledge of MS Excel
  • Previous experience of producing statutory accounts and accounting policies
  • Fast learner and adaptable
  • Excellent people management skills / experience

All employees are also expected to actively participate in performance reviews, the identification of their own training needs and attendance at any appropriate training events.

Desirable criteria

  • Experience using Xero accounting software
  • Experience working closely and effectively with external accounting partners

Salary: £30.00 per hour
