As a Junior Data Scientist within People Analytics we want you to support the Operations team in making better decisions, faster.

You will be delivering critical insights through regular reporting and discrete insight projects that explore and connect colleague and customer data together. We want Hastings Direct to achieve its goals efficiently and effectively.
The role creates the chance to research unique and interesting business and colleague questions such as what are the indicators that someone might leave the company? What different segments of colleagues do we have? Does team composition influence performance? We’re in the early stages of our people analytics journey and therefore this role will provide you with plenty of opportunity to grow with it and really make it your own.
We can offer this role at either our Leicester or Bexhill-on-Sea offices combined with a hybrid approach to the office/homeworking. However, for the right colleague, we can offer a permanent homeworking opportunity.

What will you be doing?
  • Using machine learning and advanced analytics to create and contribute to colleague insight aligned to the business priorities
  • Partnering with leaders and colleagues to understand what is important to their success
  • Increasing the analytics maturity of people insight, operations colleagues and stakeholders
  • Identifying opportunities where we could provide value and impact
  • Presenting and sharing insight with stakeholders
  • Creating and automating compelling regular insight to identify emerging trends
  • Ensuring we protect and are sensitive to the privacy of colleagues
  • Maintaining and developing person knowledge of data analysis and people analytics best practices

What are we looking for?
  • Experience within a data/analytics environment where you have collected, organised, analysed and dissected information with strong attention to detail and accuracy
  • Knowledge of statistics and experience of integrating this into analysis
  • Experience in SQL, Python or R
  • Confidence to collaborate across multiple functions
  • Good stakeholder management
  • Knowledge of HR policies an advantage but not essential – passion is more important!
  • Working knowledge of insurance, operations or contact centre environment highly beneficial
