This is a key role in the Divisional Leadership Team (DLT) focused on leading and delivering the People, Workforce and Education agenda.

Working as a core member of the DLT, the post holder will provide leadership, direction and direct support within the Surgical Division. The post holder will work with key stakeholders both within and outside of the Division to foster greater wellbeing, develop leadership capacity, develop a safety culture, a culture of civility and embed a sense of shared ownership/responsibility and accountability across the division and all staff groups.

The post holder will quickly establish credibility, build and maintain excellent working relationships at all levels of the organisation, ensuring partnership working at all times and effectively bringing together programmes of work.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will work flexibly, across all Trust campuses as required.

The post holder will:

  • Provide strong, visible, clinical leadership throughout the Division utilising a coaching and supportive style
  • Work in collaboration with the HRBP, Associate GM for QI & People, Chief People Officer in the Clinical Director Office and the Divisional Quality & Safety Lead Nurse to provide consistent and comprehensive leadership and delivery of the People and Education Strategy across all staff groups within the division maintaining equity and parity of access to all staff groups
  • Lead on the implementing of the NHS People Plan & Promises, Trust People strategy whilst ensuring that the Surgery People Plan reflects the strategic documents and the voice of #TEAMSURGERY and what matters to them
  • Work collaboratively with the designated “people team” to develop and implement restorative intervention and actions to recover trajectories related to people experience, training and education
  • Work closely with Divisional leaders to promote an ethos of joint working, collaboration and mutual respect amongst all members of staff
  • Lead and provide a point of contact for the Division for items pertaining to Nursing Associates, Nurse Specialists, ACP’s and PNA’s

  • Registered with appropriate regulatory body (NMC/HCPC.)
  • Masters degree in health related subject or equivalent experience

Desirable criteria

  • QISR Practitioner Training
  • PNA/PMA qualification
  • Working and delivering MDT education programs
  • Mediation training

Experience

Essential criteria

  • Significant experience at senior level
  • Experience of leading and delivering programmes of change within an acute NHS setting including role redesign and improving staff experience
  • Experience of using data from various sources to inform programs of education, training and staff experience
  • Experience facilitating and chairing meetings and committees related to the People agenda & Education forums

Desirable criteria

  • Experience in workforce planning
  • Experience of designing MDT education programs

Salary: The quoted salary will be on a pro rata basis for part time workers.

NUH will scan your ID and right to work documentation in to the Trust ID system at your face to face ID appointment. The system will run a check against the key security features within your documentation. The system will provide us with an outcome of your check which will be stored securely on your personal file along with all other pre-employment check documentation.

Consent:

  • Transfer of information: If I have previous NHS service - I consent to the transfer of my Electronic Staff Record (ESR) data between this and other NHS Trusts. I also consent to the Occupational Health Department confidentially accessing my occupational health records from my current or previous employer in order to check the status of my vaccinations, immunisations s and screening tests as relevant to the post. I understand this is an automated process and the information will only be used for these purposes prior to me taking up the position at NUH.
  • Disclosure and Barring Service: Your post maybe subject to a DBS check which incur a cost dependent on the level of check required (£41.90 for enhanced and £21.90 for standard). I agree to reimburse Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust the cost of a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check if it is required (by deduction from first month’s pay). Should I decide to withdraw from my job offer, I agree to reimburse Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust the cost of the DBS check undertaken by cheque or other agreed method.
