The Management Accountant is responsible for supporting the businesses financial control & reporting, tracking of financial performance and analysis of key metrics and results. This role works closely with the Senior Management Accountant and the Operations team to ensure that the business strategies are delivered and deployed.
Reporting to the Senior Management Accountant, this role will assist the business to achieve long-term sustainable growth and being responsible for the financial health, wellbeing, management and reporting of the business.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Commercial Acumen: 30%

• Develop a solid understanding of the Flight Centre business models, including income and cost drivers
• Work closely with operational leaders of the business to challenge decisions and help drive better commercial outcomes
• Partnering with the Operational leader to understand impacts of past performance as well as future trends to find new opportunities or enhance current business performance.
• Manage cost control and policies attached to cost control across the company
• SME & owner for finance deployments/enhancements.
• Take ownership of the weekly and monthly estimates
• Complete monthly / quarterly / annual forecasting and budget activity, engaging with the business and other parts of Finance as required

Financial Reporting & Review: 20%

• Provide weekly and monthly performance reporting and value add analysis that enables business stakeholders to make informed decisions. This includes monthly reporting on: Results, variance to forecasts as well as weekly trading updates. Reviews/recommendations on shop network efficiencies & cost savings o Performance based reporting by role type - Novice, consultant & Team Leader including recommendations.
• Adopt a culture of continuous improvement to proactively rationalise existing, and introduce new reporting that aligns to business needs, ways of working and drives delivery of objectives.

Forecast Planning: 10%

• Work with the Operations Leader to prepare quarterly Profit and Loss forecasts that reflect the operational targets and are aligned with Global strategy.
• Engaging with the business and other parts of Finance as required to support Brand impact on Balance sheet and Cashflow.

Financial Control and Compliance: 20%

• Ensure the financial integrity of the financial results for the Brand to ensure to all group standards and ensure accounting policies are adhered to.
• Working with the local Financial Controller to ensure there is adequate financial controls and the reporting is accurate and timely.
• Work with the Risk management teams to ensure the internal control and review in place supports the organization objectives.
• Gain a solid understanding of the month end close procedures, ensuring these are documented and understood, Ensure Trial Balance is closed by local reporting deadlines, All Monthly balance sheet reconciliations are completed and appropriate actions are taken to remedy and prevent any risk or exposure areas.
• Assist with Group and regulatory reporting
• Supporting Group with external audit requirement
• Ownership of variable Payroll processes

Operational Excellence: 10%

• Review all procedures, eliminating work wherever possible, and minimising the impact of month-end bottle necks
• Partner with other Finance teams to optimise workflows across the department
• Contribute to the culture of continuous improvement and innovation

Job Requirements

• Relevant degree, and completion of relevant accounting body (CIMA, ACCA or equivalent); those with extensive relevant experience will also be considered
• 3+ + Years working experience in a similar role
• Advanced experience using financial systems in a commercial environment e.g. Excel, Powerpoint, Power Bi
