The Material Engineer role is based within our Mission Systems business area.

The role


The difference our new Material Engineer will make



As a Material Engineer, you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. As a focal point for material management, you will receive internal customer requirements from our busy production teams and will play a key role to material availability and subcontract management.


Day to day, you’ll support the demands of production and validate material requirements, challenging when appropriate and wherever possible, drawing from company surplus stock to fulfil demands. You’ll identify potential stock shortages and prioritise orders and deliveries for our supply chain teams and ensure material is available in accordance with agreed supply and demand plans. You’ll also have responsibility for achieving availability, performance, savings and targets relating to material availability and demand satisfaction.

This role provides hybrid working arrangements with 1-2 days in the office/onsite and 3-4 days working from home. Some travel to our Ashchurch and Bristol sites will be required.


Essential experience


  • HNC or relevant equivalent experience
  • Material Management Competence and background.
  • Thorough knowledge of systems and processes relating to material management.
  • Understanding of Logistics process & policies
  • Technical background to undertake low level quality inspections
  • You must have the ability to achieve SC clearance
