Job Description :

We are looking for an innovative and motivated leader to join our retail team. Leading our experienced and established Development Team, the successful candidate will work closely with the appropriate Regional Manager to implement and manage the operational and growth strategy of our large concept retail sites, known as Donation Centres, throughout the United Kingdom.

This role is home based and involves significant travel throughout the UK with a company car or car allowance being included in the package.

Key responsibilities:

  • Oversee the programme of opening and developing all Donation Centres; leading on the planning involved to ensure that each opens to the standards expected
  • Lead and coach the Development Team to deliver continuous performance improvement, setting clear expectations in service, standards, and operations
  • Encourage and develop new initiatives, to bring about new and creative services and sustained performance
  • Provide synergy across branding, procedures, colleague induction, training, and development in new and existing large concept retail locations
  • Develop the concept in new locations to provide the right products and services to retain and grow our customer base
  • Act as a brand ambassador for the company values and behaviours, through words and actions, creating a positive and engaging working environment within development

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Confident and effective communication skills
  • The ability to direct, guide, coach & lead a diverse national team
  • A commercial and profit focused approach
  • The ability to analyse and interpret large amounts of data, identify trends and able to use information to drive development performance
  • Strong organisational skills, being able to simultaneously manage several tasks
  • Creative thinking skills, be able to establish an environment for continuous improvement, actively promoting innovation
  • Sensitivity to the aims and ethos of The Salvation Army

Desirable skills and qualifications:

  • Proven leadership skills: personable with the ability to lead a team and make a difference
  • Previous experience in an operational role at manager level in a retail environment; experience in the charity sector preferred but not essential
  • Excellent people skills and a passion for excellence and high attention to detail
  • Evidence of positively enhancing products, services, and people
  • Knowledge and understanding of working with volunteers
  • Good computer skills; particularly proficient with Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills
  • Commercial acumen with experience gained within customer centric organisations
  • Proven organisational and planning skills
