Department
The York Online Support Team is responsible for providing effective and specialised support for students and academic staff. Based in Student and Academic Services, and working with an external partner (HEP UK), the York Online Support Team provides professional service support for the delivery of our online programmes.
Role
You will work with academic departments and other professional support services to develop and deliver high quality student administration and customer support. You will provide a friendly first point of contact for students and staff, answering queries and escalating issues where needed, that may involve contact with students experiencing difficult life circumstances.
We are committed to excellence and work in a fast-moving environment. We expect staff to work flexibly and the post-holder will work both independently and as part of a team.
The post-holder will work both independently and as part of a team. The post is available on a fixed term basis until September 2023.
Skills, Experience & Qualification needed
- A general education to include 5 GCSE passes at Grade C or above (including Maths and English), or an equivalent educational qualification, or relevant experience
- Knowledge of the student lifecycle
- Experience of working in a complex, busy office environment and of providing excellent customer service
- Able to communicate effectively with a wide range of people, verbally and in writing
- A high degree of attention to detail
- Highly motivated, able to work independently and as a member of a team
- Able to work flexibly, under pressure and to tight deadlines
- Conveys a positive attitude
