Job overview

We are seeking a dynamic, innovative senior manager to join our Children's senior leadership team in Cornwall Foundation Trust .This is an exciting time to join our Neurodevelopmental Service as we look towards developing the neurodiversity pathway in Cornwall to provide early intervention and support alongside diagnostic assessments.

You will be responsible for providing high quality operational leadership to a defined group of multidisciplinary neurodevelopmental teams, within the wider CYP services and will work alongside the directorate’s Heads of Service, Associate Director of CYP services and the Director of Mental Health. They will make strong links with the wider directorate and multi-agency provision and foster seamless care pathways to ensure an informed approach across organisation, championing neurodiversity.

Main duties of the job

The main duties of the role include

  • Providing effective leadership to the Children’s specialist neurodevelopmental services.
  • Supporting the transformation and development of the organisation’s own services to integrate care around community footprints.
  • To work closely with GP’s, RCHT acute CYP services, social Care, education and the Voluntary sector within the Children’s Integrated System One Vision Strategy to develop and deliver integrated care across the county.
  • Manage a complex range of services, pathways and systems of care to meet the needs of CYP and their families.
  • Manage service delivery, relationship management, performance management and participate in the Business Planning process for the service.
  • Lead significant transformational change in particular playing a key role in the development and implementation of Cornwall’s Neurodiversity strategy and System transformation.

Person specification

Qualifications and experience

Essential criteria
  • Qualification in nursing (e.g. RMN, RSCN) and registered with the NMC or an Allied Health Professional registered with HCPC
  • Significant experience in a managerial role at band 7 or above or senior clinical role at band 7 or above or equivalent experience
  • Graduate and post graduate qualification at masters level or relevant equivalent experience

Knowledge and abilities

Essential criteria
  • Excellent knowledge of current policy, legislation and guidance (including evidence base, SEND) relevant to the provision of child health services
  • Extensive experience of working in a multi-disciplinary clinical team
Desirable criteria
  • Experience of working in a multiagency context
  • Extensive experience and knowledge of working with children with neurodevelopmental conditions, complex needs and their families

Skills and aptitide

Essential criteria
  • Excellent skills in engaging, bringing together and supporting the multi-disciplinary team, both in routine times and times of crisis
  • Excellent problem-solving abilities
Desirable criteria
  • Experience of leading change programmes and knowledge of project management skills/techniques
