This Role
Main Purpose of Job – To deliver the operations strategy for the Smith & Frater manufacturing facility in Bathgate. This role has overall responsibility for Production and Sales/Production Admin at that site.
Position in organisation
· Reports to the Operations Director of Donaldson Interiors
· This role has direct responsibility for the Production Manager and Office Manager
· Internal liaison with the Sales team is a critical element of this role
· Liaise externally with Suppliers, Customers, and H&S
Scope of the role
· Overall delivery of the production requirements for Smith & Frater offering support to site Production and Office Managers to deliver set strategy
· The Operations Manager will be responsible for forming close customer relationships to enable Smith & Frater to meet customer requirement
· Compliance with Health & Safety requirements as outlined below are essential
· Responsibility for ensuring all staffing and training requirements are in line with the needs of the business which includes maintaining training documentation on site. Identifying and maintaining cross functional skillsets across the team is also a key requirement
· The role will have a high-level awareness and input into Projects within Smith & Frater
Dimensions and Limits of Authority
· Overall Operational responsibility for Smith & Frater manufacturing site in Bathgate.
· Work within agreed budget limits for procurement.
Additional Roles & Responsibilities
· People Management
- Lead, coach and appraise the Smith & Frater Operational team to ensure they are fully motivated to achieve best performance to meet business needs. This should be monitored through Performance reviews and the setting of SMART objectives.
· Branch specific P&L
- Review performance, gross profit, efficiency, costs, and profitability along with the Operations Director, against budget for the Bathgate site.
· Customer Relationship Management
· Successfully develop, build, and maintain a network of value-based relationships in line with the strategy to achieve revenue and profit goals.
· Branch structure and management
- Ensure structure is implemented to suit specific business needs.
Integrated Management Systems – Health and Safety
· Integrated Management System procedures, group policies and practices as outlined in the Integrated Management System Manual are to be implemented and adhered to
· Ensures Operations Manager completes a minimum of 9 toolbox talks every year
· Ensure that training packs are complete for all staff every 3 years subject to delivery of toolbox talks.
· Report all accidents and incidents to HR/IS team.
· Ensure all accidents are investigated fully and documented properly.
· Complete all quality and industry audit requirements With IS Manager and IS Advisor.
Skills
Experience of working at a managerial level within a kitchen (or related industry) environment in both manufacturing and administration is essential.
Must be computer literate in word, excel, together with experience of an ERP system is required. Strong understanding of systems driven operational platforms.
Educational Qualifications
Formal qualifications in Supervisory/Managerial skills would be preferred but not essential.
Hours for the role are 42.5 Monday to Friday.
