Job Description :

RSK Acoustics looking for an experienced Principal Acoustics Consultant to join their team in Glasgow or Edinburgh. This is a full time, permanent opportunity and is due to the significant growth in the Scottish region (flexible and hybrid working patterns also considered).

RSK Acoustics is part of the wider RSK group, but has established itself as a highly successful acoustic consultancy in its own right. The team is involved in a diverse range of projects in the UK and overseas, covering all areas of acoustics. We have established a reputation for excellence amongst our wide private and public sector client base.

The team has a strong pipeline of work across a number of renewable energy schemes, traditional power generation (oil and gas), energy transmission and transportation schemes across Scotland.

The candidate would also support the wider acoustics team with other projects throughout the UK, continental Europe, East Africa, Middle East and Asia.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide Associates and Directors with technical and project support on more advanced projects
  • Lead and co-ordinate junior staff to ensure completion of work as part of a larger project team
  • Represent the company in planning and licensing hearings, providing technical witness guidance
  • Undertake environmental noise measurements and measurements of specific sources
  • Investigate specific problems and troubleshoot issues requiring adaptation of knowledge and technique
  • Producing tenders, proposals and bids for large and unusual works (this to include liaising with RSK support services to perform credit checks, contractual reviews etc. and helping junior members of staff do the same.

Person Specification

  • Relevant years’ experience in acoustic consultancy (Consultant)
  • A degree or post graduate degree in acoustics is considered essential to this position. The candidate will also require MIOA status or equivalent international membership.
  • Experienced with a recognised Noise Modelling Package (i.e. SoundPlan, CadnaA, IMMI, CATT, Odeon or equivalent); and be able to quickly adapt to using other bespoke software packages
  • Experience of providing CPD to colleagues or external partners/clients
  • Experience of mentoring more junior members of staff in both consulting and technical fields
  • A full clean UK or international driving licence is essential for this position.
