Job overview

We are looking for a highly experience health analyst with a special interest in patient safety to join our Corporate Quality and Patient Safety Team. You lead a small team of specialist analysts supporting the wider Corporate Quality and Patient Safety Team to use data and intelligence to enhance the Trust's response to patient safety issues. You will need to demonstrate extensive knowledge of data, analysis and use of intelligence from a wide range of sources to support improvement, alongside the application of this knowledge to the patient safety agenda.

Main duties of the job

To lead a small team of analytical specialists in regard to quality and patient safety, providing a proactive and responsive service in supporting the organisation’s use of data, analysis and logical frameworks to support decision-making.

To provide specialist advice and guidance on data, analysis and measurement within a wide range of domains (e.g. patient safety, clinical quality, clinical effectiveness, legal services and patient experience)

To undertake and manage discrete projects across the full range of data collection, collation, analysis and presentation activities.

To continually look to enhance the format of information provided and seek to provide innovative solutions to help inform decision-making across the Trust

To provide support to colleagues within the quality and safety team, Information Services, other corporate departments and on occasion across NUH in :

Interpretation of data and information

Presentation of information

Understanding statistical and analytical methods

To deputise for the Assistant Director of Information and Insight, as required.

To contribute to the development of the wider Quality and Safety and Information Services departments.

  • • Educated to degree level in a numerate subject or equivalent learning/experience • Post graduate qualification or equivalent experience in relevant fields • Evidence of continued personal development

Experience

Essential criteria

  • • Proven experience working within an Information or analysis role • Detailed analysis, validation and triangulation of various types of data to inform assessment of performance of complex organisations and to help identify opportunities for improvement. • Highly developed specialist knowledge underpinned by theory and experience in using statistical & analytical techniques and information analysis, acquired though degree level or equivalent plus additional specialist knowledge acquired through post graduate diploma level / or equivalent relevant experience • Experience of supervising staff • Experience of using range of quantitative data to assess performance of complex organisations • Working with both senior and clinical staff • Working with a range of benchmarking data • Developing measurement frameworks for domains such as patient experience, demand & capacity, or clinical quality & safety by reviewing research, practice elsewhere and existing measures which shape analytical activities • Experience in developing products using Business Intelligence software e.g. Qlikview / Tableau, SSRS

  • Transfer of information: If I have previous NHS service - I consent to the transfer of my Electronic Staff Record (ESR) data between this and other NHS Trusts. I also consent to the Occupational Health Department confidentially accessing my occupational health records from my current or previous employer in order to check the status of my vaccinations, immunisations s and screening tests as relevant to the post. I understand this is an automated process and the information will only be used for these purposes prior to me taking up the position at NUH.
