Job Description :

Oakworth Furniture is looking for a creative, reliable and motivated individual to work on a flexible ad-hoc basis to create high quality product imagery of our new product ranges, as well as scope to improve existing product imagery; this role would suit a freelance photographer with immediate availability.

We are able to cater a great deal to candidates availability and schedule, so please do apply irrespective of the above as we can be flexible and will discuss this further during the interview. Please be advised that the role can either be part-time or full-time, however will be a temporary basis between 3 to 6 months, with the opportunity of freelance work in the future.

We have an in-house studio and equipment, with a large quantity of props and soft furnishings. Should you prefer to use your own equipment this may be possible.

The main areas of responsibility will be;

  • Preparing the onsite photography studio, ensuring it is ready for the day
  • Planning in advance a schedule of work and agreeing a timeframe
  • Ensuring the stock is organised and prepared (liaising with the warehouse team)
  • Arranging and dressing the set (props are provided) and products
  • Photographing the products to a high standard, ensuring key details are accurately represented
  • Backing up and organising of image files to a defined naming convention
  • Keeping the photo studio clean, tidy, and ready for use
  • Keep the photography equipment clean with batteries charged

The following will also be desirable, though not necessarily essential;

  • Accurately measure products and record certain attributes ready for listing
  • Editing images (retouching and cropping) with Adobe Photoshop or similar software
  • Filming and editing video content of stock for the website and social channels
  • Liaising with management regarding the sourcing of props, new concepts, etc

The ideal candidate will;

  • Have previous experience as a photographer (with a portfolio/degree)
  • Be proficient using manual controls on a DSLR camera, including a good understanding of off camera/studio flash, aperture, exposure, shutter speed, etc
  • Have an exceptional eye for detail, framing and lighting products
  • Be confident using Adobe Photoshop or similar editing software (desirable)
  • Be physically fit as there is a degree of lifting required to position items in the studio
  • Have the ability to prioritise your own workload and meet agreed deadlines
