Job Description :

We’re looking for an experienced Project Engineer with bias in C&I/Electrical engineering. You’ll be working within the Maintenance Projects Team at Heysham 2 who are responsible for the delivery of a portfolio of planned projects on Nuclear Significant Equipment.


You’ll in the delivery of smaller projects and provide unparalleled support to Project Managers in the delivery of larger projects whilst managing contractors and field works to ensure safe delivery of said projects within the Maintenance Projects Team who are responsible for the delivery of a portfolio of planned projects on Nuclear Significant Equipment. In line with the Management of Work Process and integrating Site Excellence principles.


You will help in the delivery of smaller projects and provide support to Project Managers in the delivery of larger projects whilst managing contractors and field works to ensure safe delivery of the projects they are managing or supporting in line with the agreed objectives.

Pay, Benefits and Culture


We can offer a competitive salary from £37,080 - £67,619 and you’ll be appointed based on the parameters outlined in the Nuclear Generation Company Agreement as well as your existing salary, competence, experience and qualifications

What you’ll be doing


As the Project Engineer you will be accountable to the Project Lead for successful delivery of all aspects of their assigned projects / tasks through the complete project lifecycle. Including:


  • Identifying, implementing and complying with applicable safety, environmental and quality standards, company procedures and policies and other relevant legislative and regulatory requirements
  • Securing, assigning and leading a project team containing all the resources required to successfully deliver the project, including specialist support staff
  • Establishing and implementing effective project delivery strategies covering design, procurement & safety case
  • Implementing and maintaining effective communication to the Project Team, Project Lead and all stakeholders to ensure full understanding and commitment to the deliverables
  • Accurately report on project status
  • Identifying and assessing risks and implementing effective risk mitigation strategies
  • Field Supervising contractors to safety deliver work in design, procurement, safety case, construction or commissioning phases of a project
  • Controlling scope of their assigned work to the agreed project baseline on behalf of the Project Lead


Who you are


The successful Project Engineer will hold a HNC (minimum) or relevant Project Management qualification. Having experience working on Projects would be beneficial. Ideally, you’ll have experience in C&I/Electrical engineering, however we’ll welcome applications coming from the following disciplines; Projects, Engineering, Outage or Maintenance.


You’ll be results-focussed, driven and able to work collaboratively within a team-centred environment. You’ll have an understanding of CDM and the actions required to achieve compliance. The successful Project Engineer will also relevant experience of scoping and delivering C&I/Electrical projects.
