About the role

We are recruiting a Quality Controller to assess and monitor stock quality in accordance with agreed tolerances and customer specifications. The postholders will also be required to complete relevant documentation in the agreed time frame and communicate waste levels to relevant stakeholders. In addition, the postholders will work collaboratively with other departments.

About you

You will have a proven track record in both quality and people management. Ability to work flexibly to meet fluctuating business needs. Ability to use your initiative and work effectively as part of a team are also essential for this rewarding role.

Reporting to: Site Technical Manager

Hours: 40 guaranteed minimum hours per week over 5 days, to include at least one day at the weekend, variable working patterns available, will be discussed on the interview stage

Location: Orchard Farm, School Road, Salford Priors

Main duties and responsibilities:

  • To recruit, manage and effectively develop the quality control team in accordance with site policies and procedures
  • To ensure effective quality control staff cover
  • To ensure full adherence to Angus Soft Fruits quality management system
  • To support Angus Soft Fruits customer visits and audits
  • To be responsible for internal audits and implementation of corrective actions
  • To supervise the preparation of customer samples as required
  • To ensure efficient document control and distribution of current documents
  • To ensure adherence to Angus Soft Fruits residue testing schedule
  • To ensure daily stock quality monitoring
  • To participate in daily stock selection and management
  • To ensure estimated waste is updated and communicated to relevant stakeholders
  • To maintain safe and clean work areas
  • To complete all documentation accurately and within agreed timeframes
  • To work collaboratively with other departments.
  • To attend relevant meetings and cascade information to teams as appropriate.
  • To proactively participate in the individual performance management process, achieving SMART targets and continuous personal developments.
  • To fully participate in the development and achievement of the Salford Priors Team Vision.
  • To undertake any other duty commensurate with the role

  • Previous experience in fresh produce
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Attention to detail and accuracy
  • Ability to use initiative and as part of a team
