Job Description :

We are looking for a permanent Research & Data Analyst to join our Research & Intelligence team.

The team combines the expertise of Information professionals, Market Research and Insight staff to deliver high-quality standards and regulatory intelligence, market insights, industry research and impact assessment.

The role will provide an interesting and varied workload conducting research and supporting analysis across a range of areas of emergent technology and innovation.

A core focus will be the provision of consultative enquiry and research services to BSI members, external customers, and staff. This includes responding to inbound enquiries via several channels, information retrieval across a range of resources and presentation of results back to the enquirer in a variety of formats. In addition, you will participate in cross-functional project teams to deliver research services as part of wider BSI commercial services.

The Research & Data Analyst will also be involved in a cross-business collaboration to ensure that knowledge acquired from enquiry and research activities is shared effectively across the division and more widely, if appropriate. You will work with the Senior Research, Data and Analytics Manager to identify and implement improvements to the enquiry and research services in order to respond to emerging client needs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assimilate the research approach, and understand the standards ecosystem and landscape on a sector and topic basis quickly.
  • Answering complex enquiries within agreed timeframes and policies.
  • Delivery of high-quality research outputs and analysis to a client brief, within agreed timescales and within budget.
  • Relationships built, successful collaboration and knowledge sharing across the team and with key stakeholders as appropriate.
  • Ability to ideate and deliver analysis in effective visual forms.
  • Excellent presentation skills.
  • Research delivered to meet a client brief, within required timescales and budget.

What we are looking for:

Education/Qualifications

  • Educated to degree level or equivalent

Knowledge, Skills & Experience

  • Experience in delivering complex research projects.
  • Experience in developing effective charts and/or infographics to convey complex data using data visualization tools.
  • Experience querying and manipulating data using SQL, Python or similar.
  • Customer-focused (internal & external), with a consultative approach to understanding requirements and issues.
  • Experience in data analysis, bibliographic databases and internet searches.
  • Experience in working directly (face to face and remotely) with clients on research briefs, the design of research services and the delivery and presentation of commercial research projects.
  • Experience in working cross-functionally and effectively sharing knowledge with colleagues.
  • Excellent presentation skills (verbal, written and formal)
  • IT literate
  • Ability to provide research outcomes in a useful, visual format.
  • Research skills, with the ability to provide insight and overviews from large data sets
  • Proven ability to engage successfully with cross-functional stakeholders
