Research & Development Chemist to join a globally operated leading Chemical manufacturing company based in Widnes, Cheshire for a fantastic salary of up to £50,000 per annum including numerous company benefits.

Then company was founded in 1958 to which they have expanded to operate in over 33 countries within the production, development of chemical intermediates, additives, specialty chemicals and plastics.

As a Research & Development Chemist you will inworking within the current R&D team performing literature Analysis, experiment design, synthesis, purification, and optimization studies to develop new products, new applications and to support the production facilities.

This is a varied and exciting role as you will work with the commercial teams to create products, formulations, and applications within the personal care, home, industrial, institutional, agriculture, flavours and fragrances sector.

Responsibilities of a Research & Development Chemist-

  • Work within a team to develop new products or processes for implementation into the facilities including designing and piloting reactions, distillations or other production methods.
  • Develop project plans for a gated development process and provide regular updates to the project team and stakeholders. This will include presentations as well as formal written reports.
  • Evaluate existing production plant processes for potential improvements and modifications.
  • Assist plant production team with identifying, troubleshooting, and resolving issues that arise.
  • Design experiments to define and demonstrate optimum operating conditions for various processes then execute the lab work, testing and analysis to confirm viability.
  • Evaluate laboratory data and document results and conclusions in reports & presentations.
  • Participate as a Research & Development Chemist to lead technical and formulation discussions within the commercial group, in customer meetings and in key associations as needed.

Research & Development Chemist Candidate Requirements

  • Bachelor Degree in Chemistry as a minimum, higher degree is preferred.
  • 5+ years of industrial experience as a Research & Development Chemist, process development or plant improvement projects.
  • Strong Knowledge of organic chemistry and principles of synthesising or formulating products.
  • Experience in working hands on in the laboratory or chemical plant environment.
  • Ability to work with existing Scientists and be a team player.
  • Computer literacy: MS-Office (Excel, Access, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, Teams)
