Greater Manchester Police is one of the UK's largest police forces and is responsible for keeping people safe across more than 1,200 sq km. The Force covers the Manchester, Salford, Bolton, Bury, Oldham, Rochdale, Stockport, Tameside, Trafford and Wigan areas.

GMPs officers and staff work 24 hours a day, seven days a week, to keep almost three million people safe. The Force has 11 geographical policing areas known as Divisions that ensure it provides the best possible service to people who live, work and visit Greater Manchester.

The Business Support Services Branch provides a wide range of specialist support to GMP in order to enable the Force to provide the best possible service to the public of Greater Manchester. This ranges from cleaning, janitorial and a security guard service to procurement, transport and uniform services.

A team of 40 Security Officers provide a 24/7 security presence at four of our main sites. They are the first point of contact for staff and visitors and ensure security is maintained. Duties also include reception services, monitoring of CCTV, vehicle car park management and internal and external patrols.

You should be of smart appearance, reliable and with good communication skills. Able to work as part of a small team but also on your own on a 10 week shift rota with 20% shift allowance (night rate) and 14.62% weekend enhancement.

The successful candidate will be expected to assimilate safety, emergency, security training and follow methods and procedures. The role requires you to be able to show a flexible approach to work areas and to rostered schedules e.g. carry out reception duties according to frequency and requirement, communicate with supervisors and colleagues with regard to work schedules, safety/security matters and problems encountered is an essential requirement to the role.

You should be capable of recording/checking functions e.g. check ID's vehicles, persons, buildings.
