An exciting opportunity has arisen for an 18 month fixed term or secondment Assistant Service Manager post within University Hospital Hairmyres.

The post is aligned to the Emergency Medicine and Medical Service Manager however the postholder will also provide support to Medicine for the elderly. This is a dynamic role supporting the delivery of a wide range of services for NHS Lanarkshire including centralised services such as Cardiology, Rheumatology and Neurology.

The postholder will work as a key member of the management team supporting the operational and performance management of the service including waiting times management. The postholder will make recommendations to the service, provide guidance to staff on service redesign and capacity planning for the service in line with NHS Lanarkshire’s planned care modernisation agenda.

The postholder will –

  • Be educated to degree level or equivalent
  • Have significant experience working at senior level delivering service change
  • Have significant experience of working at senior management level within NHS
  • Have experience in achieving significant service improvement in a complex environment
  • Have a proven track record of managing complex relationships to achieve and deliver service change
  • Have an understanding of NHS systems and processes, a range of clinical best practice and an experience of service improvement techniques and methodologies
