Role overview

We are looking for a Senior Visual Designer to work directly with one of our government clients who needs dedicated support to deal with their increasing volume of work. You would be part of our House 337 Design team based in London and report to our Chief Design Officer. You will work directly with the client; manage your briefs, creative output, and workload independently.

The core requirement is to design or adapt a range of marketing materials, ranging from leaflets to ads to social media. Mostly, these form part of regular external-facing public information campaigns

As a Senior Visual Designer at House 337, you will:

    • Work with clients directly to create design concepts that follow established guidelines, yet ‘cut-through’ visually and look good

    • Develop rough layouts and concepts and present them to line managers and stakeholders

    • Contribute to the design and layout of both print and social formats

    • Manipulate and resize assets, in software such as Photoshop, Adobe Premiere or After Effects

    • Create basic GIF animations in Adobe After Effects

    • Make simple edits and cutdowns of existing videos in Adobe Premiere

    • Collaborate with other internal and external creatives to ensure a common vision and consistent branding

    • Keep line manager and Traffic up-to-date with regard to your own project progress and applying stakeholder recommendations

    • Ensure that your design briefs remain within scope, deadlines and budget

    • Keep up-to-date with design trends and the latest developments in software tools

    • Liaise with internal and external parties, such as colleagues, agencies and suppliers, to ensure that your projects run smoothly and expectations are met

    • Present final design concepts, including specifications for fonts, images, colours, text and layout, for approval

    • Archive all completed job files on the internal library

You will bring:

    • Creative thinking to devise layouts and concepts that are fit for purpose and appeal to the right audience

    • The ability to shape a design or layout look and feel to meet a client’s vision

    • Solid knowledge of Adobe design software, such as InDesign and Illustrator, photo-editing packages, such as Photoshop, video-editing packages such as Adobe Premiere and After Effects

    • Excellent team working skills to effectively collaborate with internal colleagues, external agencies and reporting line

    • An understanding of the application of design across social platforms

    • A reliable track record of delivering design projects from conception to completion, as demonstrated in their portfolio

    • A foundation degree, a higher national diploma or a degree in graphic design, illustration, visual communications, product design or a related field. Or equivalent work experience.

    • Previous experience in a busy agency or client-side environment, for at least 3 years

    • Some knowledge of web design and the latest web design software, Figma and Wordpress. We recognise that this is a broad range of skills so whilst this would be good to have, House 337 Design team can offer support and training.

And in return, House 337 offers:

  • 30 days annual leave (plus 3 at Christmas & New Year). Buy/sell up to 5 days
  • 5% matched pension contributions
  • Life Assurance (4x salary)
  • Private Medical Insurance
