The Stores Controller takes a lead role in the supply, storage, distribution and servicing of work equipment, materials, tools, and consumables.

Activities include, but are not limited to the following:

• Maintaining registers of material stock and material in transit.
• Arranging statutory and other inspections of company owned and hired equipment.
• Conducting inspections of work equipment, and arranging thorough examinations by external bodies as required.
• Maintaining inventories, registration and inspection records for work equipment.
• Issuing recall notes for equipment requiring inspection or withdrawal from service.
• Setting stock levels for consumables, tools and safety equipment to support work activities.
• Communicating with site buyer in order to procure additional materials and consumables to maintain required stocks or to satisfy call-off lists and one-off requirements.
• Maintaining storage areas in an orderly and safe condition, ensuring that materials are stacked securely and that racking systems are fit for purpose and regularly inspected for defects.
• Liaising with material users at site to ensure that adequate stocks are available, that transport arrangements are in place, and that space is available in the stock areas for returning materials.
• Directing the activities of labourers, drivers, storekeepers and other workers involved in the control of materials.
• Ensuring that essential safety requirements are in place, and that rules and procedures are followed.
