Base Location: Perth / Glasgow

Salary: £30,273 - £35,194 (depending on skills and experience) + a range of other benefits to support your family, finances and wellbeing.

Our Role

This role will be responsible for providing support to the Transmission business within SSE as the company progresses through the current RIIO-T2 price control and enters an exciting period of growth for our Transmission business to be part of a Net Zero economy.

Working as part of a small team this role has a strong emphasis on financial control with an emphasis on all aspects of month end and invoicing postings, as well as supporting the annual accounts process and fixed assets.

This is a varied, flexible and challenging role with primary responsibilities amongst the following:

• Continue the development and improvements of the current Accounts Receivable function in the team.

• Assist direct team and wider business with timesheet analysis.

• Support Transmission Accountant and Finance Manager with month end analysis and journal posting.

• Ownership of several Balance Sheet reconciliations, including WIP and deferred income.

• Support team with the production of Annual Accounts and assist in external audit.

• Work with wider Transmission team to assist in embedding controls required around SSE's implementation of SOX controls.

• Report to Transmission senior management and wider SSE plc Group on aspects relevant to role.

What do I need?

To be considered for this role, we would love you to have:

• Part qualified accountant preferred (ICAS, ICAEW, ACCA, CIMA or CIPFA); consideration will also be given to candidates who have not started professional qualifications.

• Be pro-active and use initiative whilst always providing a high degree of support and patience when dealing with all stakeholders.

• Willing to undertake a varied and challenging role and to work flexibly as an important part of a small team.

• Able to communicate messages clearly to different internal and external stakeholders conveying messages which are at times complex.

• Competent IT skills – especially MS Excel. Experience with Power BI reporting would also be advantageous.

• Able to work to tight timescales, at times under pressure and yet deliver to high standards.

• Overall, the candidate will need to be assertive, pro-active, helpful and diligent in their approach and be willing to undertake challenging tasks and find solutions to problems which may be undefined.
