We are recruiting for a Business Analyst - Day rate Contractor to work on one of our key projects as part of our Business Change team in Bristol.

TLT is going through an exciting period of significant growth and development and has an ambitious programme of projects to transform the way that we work. We operate in a constantly changing environment.

TLT has a Programme Management Office (PMO) of dedicated business analysts and project managers, augmented with external consultants, to manage and implement complex projects. PMO manages TLT’s internal major projects and the overall project portfolio at TLT. TLT Business Analysts are key to ensuring successful outcomes by working with other Business Services teams (IT, Knowledge Management, Business Development, HR, Facilities) as well as fee earners on both discrete pieces of work and as part of project teams.

Your Role

As a Business Analyst your day to day remit includes:

  • Work with Change Managers and SMEs to produce business cases, plans and delivery of products that support and enable the realisation of business benefits
  • Extract, document and evaluate business requirements using a range of business analysis techniques agree priority with clients and stakeholders. Use proven business modelling techniques to understand options, efficiencies, benefits and return on investment
  • Use business analysis techniques to work with SMEs to document as-is processes, identify any potential efficiencies and document in to-be processes. Conduct gap analysis to support change management activity and gain agreement and SME sign off.
  • Drive and challenge business teams on their assumptions of how the solution will meet their needs. Help them to articulate their needs and challenge their thinking. Influence, manage and persuade stakeholders.
  • Be the liaison between the business units, technology and external suppliers. Serve as the link between the client and the project team to establish the technical vision; analyse trade-offs between usability and performance and agree functional and non-functional requirements
  • Work with requirements, user stories and acceptance criteria to create test scripts, plans and scenarios.
  • Work with the technical teams to gather requirements for system integrations. The project also involves a large amount of data migration, so someone with experience working with large data sets would be desirable.
  • Co-ordinate user acceptance tests ensuring participants undertake test duties to established standards.
  • To proactively support project managers to manage, plan, structure and lead projects. Take responsibility for delivery and support the enforcement of project deadlines and schedules.

As the need arises, there may be occasions where this role may, for example, be required to carry out other tasks that would more often be the responsibility of the project manager and it is an expectation that all at TLT will be flexible to ensure successful delivery.

Your Skills and Experience

Core experiences

  • Proven experience of working on a range of business improvement projects including process improvement, implementation of automation / workflow systems and technical projects.
  • Experience of large-scale system integration and migration projects including data migration is desirable
  • Proven experience writing as-is and to-be processes and turning these into specifications for IT systems/requirements.
  • Experience in the legal industry is desirable
  • MS Dynamics platform experience desirable
  • There will be liaison with both internal development teams and third-party suppliers, so experience of dealing with third parties desirable.

  • Proven track record of following embedded processes and expected behaviours
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving ability, including a thorough understanding of how to interpret the client's business needs and translate them into business/operational requirements.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, able to understand, appreciate and adapt to different working styles and patterns to get the most out of the team and project contributors.
  • Excellent influencing and negotiation skills, with experience working with a range of senior stakeholders and subject matter experts at all levels, leading by example.
  • Good technical/IT competency and understanding (role is business focused not IT focused). Excellent Microsoft office and visio skills
  • Results orientated with good time management skills and ability to manage and prioritise own workload and identify conflicting deadlines and expectations.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving ability, thorough understanding of how to interpret the (predominantly internal) client's business needs and translate them into business/operational/IT requirements.
