Communications officer (media), £27k - £30k

We’re looking for someone with press office or media experience, with an eye for a story and a grasp of print, broadcast, digital and social media.

As a member of our busy team, you will bring your professional expertise to a range of communications activities.

Whether it’s recruiting foster carers, attracting companies to our business parks, or planting 700,000 trees, you’ll create compelling content whilst managing our reputation - and ultimately, make a difference to our residents’ lives.

About us
Our media team is at the heart of the council. We’re part of the communications and digital unit which brings together corporate external and internal comms and creative design to support the council’s priorities.

About the team
Managing the council’s reputation, changing perceptions, explaining difficult decisions and influencing – that’s our focus.

About the role
You will tell the council’s story, help run a traditional press desk and maximise use of our own channels. You’ll be original, collaborative, able to influence, place audiences at the heart of your work, positive and flexible.

What you'll be getting up to
There’s no average day – you’ll be promoting the council’s work, spotting risks, providing sage advice, managing queries, leading training and more. Every day you’ll be delivering results and adding value.
