Summary
Join our Customer Communications team in Sunderland! Our friendly in-house team handles customer interactions via Twitter, email and telephone. The team also makes bookings for our Tees Flex service, the Uber-style bus in the Tees Valley.
The position is available until April 2023, and is ideal if you have an administration and/or customer service background, or if you're looking for a better work-life balance.
The team also manages several highly important ticketing initiatives, processing bulk orders for Stagecoach North East's 'Under 19' and 'Corporate Travel' schemes, among others.
The role primarily involves working from home , with office-based hours when required.

Job Purpose
Providing a high level of customer service for customers across the north east, via social media, telephone and email, and with responsibility for ticket administration and processing, invoicing and general communications support.
Full training will be provided but relevant skills and/or experience are required.
The Customer Communications Assistant role encompasses both Stagecoach North East and Tees Flex customer service functions.
Hours of work
We are seeking a Part Time applicant working 18.75 hours each week on the rolling rota outlined below, as part of a job-share.

Overtime will also be required to cover holidays within the team.

Shift details
Flexibility is required. The successful candidate will join a four-person team, working in shifts on a rolling rota system to cover all customer service operating hours.
The majority of the working hours fall between 0700-2000, Mon-Fri, with a requirement for one Saturday per three-week period.

Job Activities
Providing the central customer service function for
Tees Flex
, our on-demand bus services in the Tees Valley.
  • Assisting Tees Flex customers by booking their on-demand bus trips across Tees Valley
  • Responding to Stagecoach customer enquiries and complaints via telephone, email and Twitter
  • Liaising with the company’s six local depots to seek relevant information
  • Developing a broad understanding of customer products and local services

Processing ticket sales (inc. Corporate Travel, Under 19 & Unirider):
  • Bulk ticket orders & refunds
  • Completing relevant paperwork
  • Keeping records in line with procedures
  • Any other reasonable duties delegated by the Marketing Manager or Commercial team

Person Profile
  • Customer-focused attitude
  • Excellent telephone manner, including a calm and mature approach to managing all situations
  • Confident and friendly
  • Excellent overall communication skills
  • Confident user of social media platforms (in particular Twitter)
  • Good standard of written English
  • Experienced with Microsoft Office software
  • Comfortable with rota system including early, middle and late shifts as well as working one Saturday every three weeks, as per the rota detailed above.
