Responsibilities

Description of the Business Line or Department

The Financial Performance Analysis team works within the Finance (DFIN) division of the bank and acts as a business partner providing local management, PRIV/FIN and GIMS/FIN with in-depth analysis of the Bank consolidated results including performance monitoring, commentary and trending to allow efficient assessment and monitoring of the Bank’s activity, as well as enabling informed & effective decision-making.

Summary of the key purposes of the role

  • Business Partner for the Treasury Function – analysing performance to identify and understand drivers of NBI (Net Business Income), helping to improve the quality of our reporting and accuracy of our forecasting and budgeting
  • Assist with creation and ongoing development/enhancement of our monthly management information packs distributed to relevant stakeholders in the business
  • Assist with any ad-hoc analysis linked to monitoring of strategic initiatives, DFIN related projects and/or queries from senior management

Summary of responsibilities

  • Participate in the production of performance information packs, dashboards and presentations.
  • Assist with the monitoring of the banks consolidated results and commercial KRIs/KPIs.
  • Assist with ongoing efforts, projects and/or initiatives aimed at enhancing the accuracy, timeliness and quality of our financial data and management reporting
  • Assist with production of the Net Interest Margin and Treasury NBI forecast as part of the annual Budgeting process
  • DFIN FPA representative at LDPC committee - ensuring the financial impact of discussions/decisions is reflected in forecasts/budgets and is detailed in related analysis and reports
  • Assist with automation, consolidation and enhancement of reporting following changes to the underlying MI systems.
  • The employee must know and comply with the regulations, rules and procedures, internal and external applicable in the context of its function and follow the compulsory training.

Competencies

  • Competency and comfort using Microsoft Excel – expectation is user is at an advanced level or will be able to pick up any missing skills quickly, as excel is the main data analysis tool used.
  • Good communication skills both oral and written (email, presentations), with an ability to convey key messages to stakeholders in a manner that is easy to understand
  • Attention to detail to ensure all performance reporting delivered is accurate, up to the standards defined by management, and maintains the trust and reputation of the finance team with stakeholders.
  • Strong data analysis skills with an analytical mindset to process the large amounts of performance data the team deals with.
  • An organized, methodological mindset that will lend itself to improving the structure of our reporting with a view towards standardization & automation. Experience with scripting & data analysis languages (e.g Python, VBA Macros) is a strong plus but not a requirement for the role.
  • Proactive, driven individual who will strive to find solutions to problems rather than wait to be told what to do.
  • Comfortable working in a high-pressure environment with challenging requests, hard deadlines and high expectations.
  • Intellectual curiosity to understand what makes the bank function, the role of Finance, and how to innovate on our processes.
  • Ability to learn and be up to date on the needs of the business, our products & services, as well as UK & international accounting standards.
  • Ability to work as part of a team and assist multiple colleagues with different pieces of work.
  • Strong time management skills to be able to deliver on competing deadlines without issue.
