Job Description :

Banchory Lodge is looking for a groundskeeper to manage all gardening tasks as required including planning, planting, tending, mowing, pruning, leaf clearing and work closely with the Property Maintenance Manager to ensure all general work involving keeping grounds looking their best, clean safe and useable by visitors to the property, is completed in a timely manner.

Reporting relationships:

Position reports directly to Property Maintenance Manager

Skills requirements:

· Physically fit

· Willing to work outdoors in all weathers

· Able to operate manual and power tools safely

· Knowledge of horticulture and seasonal requirements of gardening

· Technical knowledge of horticultural best practices

· Qualified to undertake safe use of pesticides and other required chemicals

Main duties and responsibilities:

· Clearing rubbish, weeds and debris on a company’s ground.

· Watering all flowers and plants on the grounds

· Weeding, trimming, and mulching plants using gardening tools

· Taking care of all groundskeeping supplies, tools and inventory

· Ensuring the grounds are clean, safe and usable by guest and visitors

· Clearing and gritting pavements, decking and driveways of snow and ice

· Taking on special landscaping or planting projects as deemed necessary

· Manage and apply the proper application of fertilizers, herbicides, fungicides, insecticides and organic materials

· Mow and fertilise lawns

· Prune shrubs and trees

· Plant, transplant and cultivate flowers, shrubs and trees

· Be responsible for the condition and general health of the soil and plants

· Operate power tools, tractor and other equipment as required by the task.

· Log splitting and supply

· Setting up functions and events in the hotel grounds

Personal Skills:

· The ability to communicate effectively at all levels

· Reliable and adaptable

· A high standard of personal appearance.

· A good eye for detail and a desire to take responsibility.

· A willingness to participate in training and coaching for own development.

Banchory Lodge is a beautiful 28 bedroom hotel situated on the banks of the River Dee. The location is stunning and offers easy access to lots of outdoor activities, while still being in a town with all the amenities required.
