We help to protect patients and improve medical education and practice in the UK by setting standards for students and doctors. We support them in achieving (and exceeding) those standards, and take action when they’re not met. As the Head of the Office of the Chair and Chief Executive (OCCE) working in our Corporate Directorate in London, you’ll have a key role, reporting to the Assistant Director providing high level support to both our Chair and Chief Executive.
The GMC values diversity and has made a public commitment to processes and procedures that are fair, objective, transparent and free from discrimination. About the role
It will be your job to oversee the processes and procedures delivered by the OCCE team. Day to day, you’ll be part of a small team liaising with colleagues across the organisation to inform the work of OCCE. You’ll provide high quality advice and professional support while providing effective and inclusive leadership to the team.
It will require an ability to manage complex and sensitive relationships, and to think and act strategically developing practical and creative solutions to strategic and operational problems. To do this you will have the capacity to analyse complex policy and operational issues, build rapport and influence with senior leaders, promote the GMC’s values and corporate strategy, and deal with the pressures that come at this level.
An inspirational leader, you have what it takes to influence and empower a diverse workforce. With impressive communication skills, an ability juggle multiple priorities and a flair for consulting with internal stakeholders, you’ll demonstrate a proven ability to build consensus and to ensure effective and efficient working across the organisation.
