Are you looking for a graduate role in which you can gain broad experience across HR? Do you want to work with collaborative teams who welcome challenge? Are you keen to be part of an organisation with a strong social purpose at its core?

We are looking for graduates who can answer “yes” to the above to join our HR Graduate Programme. The HR Graduate Programme is a great opportunity to get to grips with the fundamentals of HR. It’s also a fantastic time to join Legal & General’s HR community as it progresses in its transformation journey and plays a pivotal role in the business’ continued success.

Programme length: Two years

Programme type: 3 rotations

What you'll be doing

At Legal & General, we want all employees to feel fulfilled in their work and excited about being part of Legal & General’s story. The HR function is central to enabling and delivering this culture, supporting leaders, line managers and employees to ensure people-related elements of the organisation’s strategy are executed. You will rotate through three different roles during the 2-year programme, developing your professional network and expanding on your skills, through a structured learning and development programme, before rolling off onto a permanent role within one of our teams.

Some of the day-to-day activities could include:

  • Responding directly to employee and line manager HR queries, ensuring an exceptional employee experience throughout the employee life cycle
  • Supporting a varied Employee Relations caseload including disciplinaries, grievances, absence, sickness, performance management and occupational health
  • Supporting HR projects, including Legal & General’s HR Transformation programme
  • Identifying opportunities for continuous improvement to HR processes, ways of working and technology
  • Managing HR-related change, including process mapping and stakeholder engagement
  • Producing HR Management Information (MI) and insights
  • Assisting with annual HR processes like pay and performance reviews

Learning and Development

As a graduate in HR, we’ll equip you with all the skills you need, while also giving you support to achieve your Level 5 HR Apprenticeship with CIPD. You’ll learn on the job from our HR experts and be surrounded by mentors, providing you with an excellent platform to begin your HR career.

You will join the enterprise-wide induction in September 2023 where you will have the opportunity to learn more about Legal & General and build a network with our other gradates.

What we're looking for

First and foremost, we are looking for people who embody our behaviours:

Straightforward - doing what we say and saying what we mean
Collaborative - working together constructively
Purposeful – working with pace and energy

We’re not expecting prior industry experience, but we’ll want to see that you have the tools to develop quickly. These include:

  • 2:1 Degree (any discipline)
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Flexible and a team-player
  • Curiosity and an eagerness to learn
  • Highly organised with the ability to prioritise effectively
  • An analytical mind with a good understanding of basic data analysis approaches
  • Competent IT skills, including Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint

The role will be based in London and will involve a flexible working approach whereby you split your time between working from home and the office.
It will also involve some travel across our core hubs in Cardiff and Hove
