Job Description :

Capita Gas Registration and Ancillary Services Ltd (CGRAAS) is the provider of the registration service for gas installation businesses in Great Britain and the Isle of Man. The Gas Safe Register is a service concession granted to Capita by the Health & Safety Executive GB and HSWI Isle of Man.

The role of the Management Accountant is to assist in the preparation and maintenance of complete and accurate financial records, concentrating on the reconciliation of receivables and responding to customer account queries. The role is varied and provides support across all finance activities for the CGRAAS scheme. This role will also involve other central government accounts such as Dept. for International Trade, HMRC performing month end activities, forecasting, business planning and variance analysis.

For the right candidate, this role has real scope to drive efficiency and automation along with great development opportunities – broadening into more complex challenges on the Gas account and the potential to support across other challenges in the JCT vertical.

Job Description:

What you'll be doing:

  • Ensure accurate and up-to-date financial information is available on customer accounts

  • Respond to Finance support queries raised by customer or CSR’s, ensuring that any issues are reported or resolved in a timely and efficient manner

  • Ensure credit account applications comply with business rules

  • Ensure that all invoicing and payments of receivables associated with the CGRAAS scheme are prompt, securely banked and reconciled

  • Monitor customer balances to ensure outstanding debts or overpayments are followed up and promptly recovered or refunded in line with CGRAAS procedures, liaising with Key Account Managers in resolution of issues where appropriate

  • Month end reporting

  • Reconciliation and variance analysis of Actuals to Forecast and Business Plan

  • Approve and post journals – accruals, standard adjustments, and cross charges

  • Ad hoc analysis and query resolution

  • Exception reporting and variance investigation

  • Ideally Part Qualified Accountant with progression towards accounting qualification

  • Hands on and enthusiastic individual looking for career development

  • Keen to learn, drive efficiency and automation

  • Inquisitive mindset – able to take initiative to explore and investigate issues to resolution

  • Able to analyse, evaluate and present financial information to a high standard

  • Confident and able to quickly establish solid working relationship with wide variety of stakeholders

  • Good organisational skills with a high level of attention to detail and accuracy

  • Ability to work under pressure and meet strict deadlines

  • Ability to communicate with Non-Finance individuals

  • Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office, in particular Excel
