Welcome to Warner Bros. Discovery… the stuff dreams are made of.

Behind WBD’s vast portfolio of iconic content and beloved brands, are the storytellers bringing our characters to life, the creators bringing them to your living rooms and the dreamers creating what’s next…

From brilliant creatives, to technology trailblazers, across the globe, WBD offers career defining opportunities, thoughtfully curated benefits, and the tools to explore and grow into your best selves. Here you are supported, here you are celebrated, here you can thrive.

Your New Role...

The Marketing department at WBD UK & Ireland supports the company’s entire portfolio of products, including Film, Games, Sport, TV (linear and paid channels, scripted and unscripted content) and Streaming (Discovery+). WBD is home to some of the world’s most significant IP including Harry Potter and the Wizarding World, DC, Game of Thrones, Loony Tunes, Friends and many more. The UK & Ireland is a key International territory, delivering significant revenues outside the US.

The department spans content marketing, publicity, data strategy, digital and social expertise, performance marketing, B2B2C partner marketing, brand and media partnerships, and franchises. This is a 90-strong team, with 6 team leaders heading up a department each.

The Operations Manager reports directly into the SVP Marketing as her ‘right-hand person’ who will help the SVP to build a world-class team. The candidate will have an intricate knowledge of how the marketing department functions, both internally and externally, and who the key players are, as the role is critical to the smooth running of the division. They will also have their ‘eyes and ears’ on the outside world – watching the agenda across the broader industry with a view to helping the SVP to stay informed, and the team to stay at the top of their game both internally and externally.

Your Role Accountabilities...

  • Help the SVP to set a strategy that fosters a positive culture and brings the newly merged department together as one cohesive, motivated team
  • Lead the curation, logistics, planning and execution of Marketing Offsites, events and team meetings for the marketing leadership team and / or the entire department. Collaboration on agenda setting and objectives, management of central marketing budgets, collation of output, driving next steps

Ensuring SVP has all background information on talent, attends relevant dinners, press/radio interviews and post premiere drinks. Researching all publicity materials.
  • Monitor the SVP’s senior industry relationships (and their EAs). Being tuned into industry events, observing and elevating industry conversation relevant to the marketing department (press articles, papers, debates etc.). Being informed and then informing - who should we know, who’s doing interesting work, who are potential speakers, what should the team be involved in?
  • Run the day-to-day affairs of the SVP’s office, identifying efficient ways of working, a tight flow of information, helping to manage the rhythm of the workload, elevating issues that need addressing, adept at handling urgent and / or sensitive material. Ensuring the SVP and her senior team feel prepped for conferences, business trips, big meetings. Management of contact database.

Qualifications & Experience...

  • Professional demeanour and calm outlook, detail oriented and highly organised
  • A problem-solver, solution-focussed, resilient and tenacious
  • Conveys absolute discretion – especially when privy to / handling urgent sensitive information
  • Can influence and motivate, building strong working relationships across the company
  • Displays a true understanding of the business and the wider media landscape
  • Has exceptionally strong written and verbal communication skills.

How We Get Things Done…

This last bit is probably the most important! Here at WBD, our guiding principles are the core values by which we operate and are central to how we get things done.
