International Marine Survey is a well established marine survey company with a strong track record of providing excellent services to blue chip clients for 40 years, worldwide.
As part of our plans for further expansion we seek an ambitious, well qualified team player to join our group of surveyors and undertake marine survey, cargo inspection and consulting work.
Experienced surveyors are strongly preferred as we have an ongoing work stream to service, but applications from potential new entrants into the marine survey industry are welcomed.
This role would particularly suit newly qualified deck officers looking to transition to a marine role ashore. Other prior experience in the marine and related industries will be considered dependent on that experience.
This dynamic and fast-moving position requires travel at short notice within the UK and occasional travel abroad. Full UK working entitlement, a clean driving licence and either a valid ENG1 or similar assurances of medical fitness are required.
You will join a team of very experienced marine professionals from a variety of industry backgrounds.
This is a dynamic and busy role that requires an understanding of vessels and cargo across several trades and an individual who is task-focused, can work to deadlines and who can operate as part of a skilled, ambitious and high-performing team.
You will represent IMS to ship owners, cargo shippers or cargo receivers, insurers and other stakeholders and you will be required to ensure that the client’s interests are protected.
A high degree of integrity is required, as is the willingness to accept short notice local travel with occasional overseas assignments. We operate every day of the year, and our team members work together to ensure coverage of client requirements.
The work will consist of first line attendance at a range of survey and consulting assignments on behalf of our clients, who comprise commodity owners, ship owners and managers, insurers, P&I Clubs, financiers and other stakeholders who require excellent representation and assurance to manage their risks.
Primary tasks include attendance on survey and accurate and consistent reporting of findings. Your knowledge of vessels and cargo will be fully engaged and developed by this role, and your reporting skills and use of common IT packages and systems will be required daily.
Supported by a back office team you will report to the management and work within our team of surveyors as we grow the business.
For the right candidate this represents a superb opportunity to build a career in marine consulting and survey and act in conjunction with a successful and thriving business with an excellent, first tier client base and a supportive management team. Our client base is varied, and we encourage an entrepreneurial mindset and will support potential business ideas from our surveying and consulting team.
The successful applicant will work mainly from home. Occasional work from the company's offices may be required
