Job Description :

The foundation of Vogue’s leadership and authority is the brand’s unique role as a cultural barometer for a global audience. Vogue places fashion in the context of culture and the world we live in — how we dress, live and socialize; what we eat, listen to and watch; who leads and inspires us. Vogue immerses itself in fashion, always leading readers to what will happen next. Thought-provoking, relevant and always influential, Vogue defines the culture of fashion.
Job Description
Location:
London, GB
Condé Nast is home to some of the world’s most celebrated media brands. In Britain, we set the benchmark for multimedia publishing excellence with brands including Vogue, GQ, Glamour, The World of Interiors, House & Garden, Condé Nast Traveller, Tatler, WIRED, Vanity Fair and Condé Nast Johansens. We inspire across print, digital, social, events, consultancy and – with the Condé Nast College of Fashion & Design – education.
British Vogue is looking for an energetic, meticulously organised, and professional Operations Manager to lead its UK editorial operations.
Previous magazine or newspaper experience is essential. He/she should have a real interest in all things Vogue – from fashion and film to arts and culture – and a thorough understanding of the layers of operations, financial planning, and team management that go into producing the world’s most famous fashion title.
The Operations Manager will be involved in all areas of the brand – helping to manage workflow, budgets, production and staffing; helping to develop strategy; and assisting with legal, contractual, procurement, and payment matters.
A ruthless efficiency combined with first-rate people skills and diplomacy is a must, as the role overlaps with all of Vogue’s editorial teams, as well as commercial and external departments within the wider business. He/she should also demonstrate the ability to work under their own initiative in a pivotal role at the heart of a vibrant and busy team.
This is a fantastic opportunity to work in a fast-paced team, on Condé Nast’s flagship brand.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND REQUIREMENTS
  • Oversee British Vogue’s content budget for print and digital editorial projects produced in the UK, as well as print supplements and select UK-led projects for regional and global Vogue distribution. Ensure projects come in on or under budget.
  • Work with the European Production Director to ensure editorial project deadlines are met; and oversee production workflows for UK print supplements by setting deadlines, chasing copy and assets, and leading regular production meetings.
  • Assist the European Content Operations Director in the management of regional shoot planning, and host regular catch-ups with Operations peers at the Vogues across Europe.
  • Serve as a first port of call for British Vogue team- and people-related issues.
  • Ideate and organise knowledge-sharing meetings for the Vogue editorial teams in the UK and Europe, featuring VIP special guests and team events.
  • Oversee internal communications to the British Vogue team.
  • Lead an internal operations hub with the Editor-In-Chief’s Executive Assistant and Vogue’s Personal Assistant, with a focus on implementing cost control solutions.
  • Coordinate with the Condé Nast legal department and/or negotiate legal agreements with external contributors and celebrity talent.
  • Pre-read all UK print content for legal risks, highlighting potential areas of concern.
  • Working with the Vogue Fashion Department, ensure internal compliance with insurance requirements for jewellery and fashion shoots.
  • Manage procurement and invoice processes for UK-produced editorial projects.
ESSENTIAL SKILLS & REQUIREMENTS
  • You’ll be an excellent diplomat and able to understand and interpret the needs and priorities of a variety of departments.
  • Meticulous eye for detail and accuracy.
  • Exceptional organisation and time- and people-management skills.
  • An analytical mind, with excellent numeracy skills.
  • Outstanding communication skills.
  • Comfortable dealing with all levels of staff.
  • Ability to multitask.
  • Unflappable under pressure and a sense of humour.
