About Us
We are a five partner practice, serving patients across two sites in the Borough of Bromley and neighbouring Boroughs of Lewisham & Greenwich. Historically, we started off as ‘Bermondsey and Brook Lane Medical Mission’ but when Bermondsey was redeveloped in the 1920’s the residents were relocated to large ‘garden’ council estates in Downham and Mottingham and the Mission Practice followed.
The Area
Downham and Mottingham surgeries both lie within the London Borough of Bromley and are linked to Bromley Health. The Practice boundaries, however, take in patients from the Boroughs of Lewisham and Greenwich.
The Practice Team
We have approximately 31 members of staff, consisting of Practice Manager, an Advanced Nurse Practitioner, a Practice Nurses, 2 trainee Practice Nurses,, two Health Care Assistants a Physicians Associate and approximately some 23 administrative and reception staff, most of whom are part time. Other staff attached to the Practice include District Nurses, CPN’s, Midwives and Health Visitors. Meetings and training are held at both surgeries, paramedic, mental health practitioner, and a physiotherapist.
We provide the following services: Asthma, Diabetic Clinic, Counselling, Minor Surgery, Child Health Surveillance, Baby Clinic, Ante Natal Clinic, and Coronary Heart Disease.
Training
Two of the Partners at Downham is a GP Trainer, as are 3 of the Partners at Mottingham. Since September 1996 the Mottingham surgery has been involved in teaching medical students from King’s College Hospital.
Computerisation
We use EMIS a (WEB based) clinical system, with direct links to the Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) for items of service. Most notes are fully summarised both manually and on computer with a system in operation to regularly update these summaries. We regularly receiving lab results electronically and scan correspondence via DOCMAN so that patient information is directly accessible from the clinician’s computer.
Job Summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Links Medical Practice for an Operations Supervisor. This role is a permanent position. We would like an individual who is enthusiastic, organised, has strong communication skills and experience of leading teams (ideally linked with experience of working in General Practice). This will be a great opportunity for someone who is looking to expand and develop their operational and leadership skills in a fast-paced environment, with a view to being a Practice Manager in the future.
As Operations Supervisor, you will be responsible for supporting the day-to-day management of the practice sites. You will oversee the response to a wide range of questions and enquiries, seeing them through to a satisfactory response. You will have excellent communication skills and the ability to manage a varied and busy workload. You will ensure all practice staff are compliant with agreed procedures, protocols and time-scales, reporting to the Practice Manager as necessary. The candidate must be conscientious, provide solid supervisory support and have a sound knowledge of HR.
The candidate will have experience of supervising team, supporting staff development, as well as providing guidance and direction. He or she will also act as a focal point for communication and best practice. You should be highly motivated, proactive, and innovative with excellent organisational skills and proven ability in HR and IT. You will also have the resilience, vision and willingness to adapt to constant changes within General Practice and the NHS.
Previous supervisory experience, leadership skills, competency in office IT and effective communication skills are essential.
