Job Description :
Principal Purpose of Job:
- For new designs, the Project Manager is responsible for the planning and direction of the project from the launch meeting to the conclusion of the project.
- For variants or repeats of existing products, the Project Manager is responsible for estimation, planning, and project direction to the conclusion of the job.
- The Project Manager is to work within the budgets set by the Commercial team and highlight margin erosion when discovered by stakeholders.
Limits of Responsibility.
Key Responsibilities:
- To liaise with stakeholders to prepare a project plan (CPA) defining deadlines and Key Project Milestone (KPM) dates for both Client and Company.
- The of the KPMs is to assist the Account Manager in “setting their stall out” with the client through clarity of responsibilities for both parties.
- To maintain a current bill of materials throughout the project giving current project margin and comparison to estimate.
- To report the reason for margin deviations from the estimate to the Projects Director.
- Ensure projects are completed to plan on time and on budget.
- To ensure that if KPMs are missed the impact is assessed and a new Plan issued in a timely manner.
- To ensure that any client-led change to specification is reflected in the modified BOM, and to help calculate with the Estimating team the resulting on-costs to be recovered by the Account Manager.
- Ensure all purchased parts and in-house manufactured parts arrive in the store prior to the assembly pick date.
- The Project Manager is expected to observe testing and first-off approval procedures.
- Ensure that all CPAs follow the agreed format, are stored in the correct place, and are distributed to all internal stakeholders.
- To check that a Development Designer is allocated to all projects.
- To use their discretion when purchasing overs and MOQ to ensure warehouse stock levels are not unduly increased.
- To promote team-working behaviors, communication, professionalism, and a culture of continuous improvement throughout the business and to follow company policies.
- To manage risks and to report major risks (and opportunities) to the Projects Director.
- To comply with Company policies and procedures.
Key Performance measures in the job:
- Project Margin is better than the estimate.
- Variations in project margin identified and attributed (for cost recovery with the client if possible).
- Bill of materials current and accurate.
- Project plan defined and achieved.
