Job Description :

We are looking for a Project Manager to join our Content Development Team

This is a new 12-month FTC and a chance to manage the delivery of a portfolio of standardisation projects that provide tailored solutions for clients from diverse market sectors. This typically involves managing the drafting, development, and publication of national standards and client-sponsored standards. It also includes managing other client-sponsored standardisation services such as standards mapping and scoping exercises. Where client-sponsored projects are part of a wider programme of activity, the Project Manager works as part of a programme team.

This role will suit candidates with a proven ability to deliver multiple projects to client expectations, on budget, on schedule, and to an expected level of quality. It is important to demonstrate strong editorial and rewriting skills, an ability to critically analyse technical content and research findings, and manage a publication production process. It is also important to demonstrate excellent communication skills, including authoritative meeting chairing and facilitation and strong persuading and influencing skills, to manage client relationships and build consensus amongst various external and internal stakeholders.

About the company

BSI is the UK’s National Standards Body, but we are much more than that. We are an international organization that tackles the problems businesses have by leading the development and embedding of best practices. We help companies access new markets, accelerate innovation, become more resilient and sustainable, and build trusted customer relationships.

Standards protect and create trust, but they are only one aspect of our work. Ensuring conformity with standards and regulatory frameworks accelerates our client's ability to improve and grow. Our consulting expertise and insights create a rich environment for innovation. Our work across these interconnected areas unlocks value for clients that is not always apparent when we start.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage complex and challenging standardization projects, including developing British Standards, PASs, Flexes, and private standards, and delivering other standardization services such as standards mapping and scoping exercises.
  • Manage projects from initiation to completion in line with agreed budgets/allocated days, schedules, and quality criteria.
  • Agree on project scope and schedule with the client and other stakeholders.
  • Manage workload to ensure effective forecasting and timely delivery.
  • Monitor and report on progress towards milestones/targets.
  • Deliver client and stakeholder value by providing high-quality standardization products and services, consistent with BSI’s reputation as a credible independent standards development facilitator.
  • Apply and advise project stakeholders on editing and standards drafting rules, through the critical analysis of technical content, use of editorial and rewriting skills, and application of standards development knowledge.
  • Draft, review, assess, edit and proofread other standardization services documents, such as domain research, workshop, standards mapping, and standards scoping reports.
  • Effectively manage the relationship with external stakeholders and project suppliers, such as clients, technical authors, consultants, researchers, PAS steering group, PAS review panel, Flex advisory group, Technical Committees, and drafting panels.
  • Comprehensively and effectively manage any client or stakeholder queries.
  • Effectively manage the relationship with internal stakeholders, such as the Standards Development, Sector, and Standards Services teams.
  • Maintain communication with the Standards Services Business Development team, who manage BSI’s contractual and commercial relationship with the client for sponsored standardization projects, providing support for project scoping where required.
