This is a pivotal moment for the World Service. To support this strategy we embarking on a restructure to grow digital and share more of our best content.

Main Responsibilities
  • Manage day-to-day progress against a complex and detailed project plan which focuses on delivery, working across numerous workstreams Project Workstreams
  • Identify, track and manage progress, risks, issues, assumptions, dependencies, interdependencies and changes of project
  • Identify, track and manage lessons learned across project lifecycle
  • Make effective use of reporting, communication and escalation (when outside agreed constraints)
  • Manage stakeholder relationships, building engagement and fostering conditions for successful decision making, recording and tracking project activities/deliverables, managing and controlling scope creep
  • May be required to work with Change Managers on change management activities such as training, communications
  • May be required to chair key project meetings ensuring output is recorded and actions, decisions, risks or dependencies are documented, escalating blockers and risks where necessary

This is a complex role working under pressured deadlines to successfully deliver many financial and non-financial benefits. The project comprises of many workstreams that span from technology and operations to culture, development and engagement and there are many stakeholders. We are looking for a highly motivated individual who is able to manage complex information and data accurately and is not afraid of the fast pace within this large scale transformation project.

  • Experience managing projects/workstreams to successful outcomes within agreed scope, time, cost and quality constraints
  • Experience in leading teams, problem solving, progress monitoring, managing risk and budget or resource
  • Excellent communication skills; able to manage difficult stakeholders and deliver in ambiguous, fast-changing and complex environments
  • Great attention to detail and proficiency in planning tools such Microsoft Office Software skills with an ability to organise and analyse data for project and reporting purposes
  • Motivated with can do attitude and with ability to empower teams and colleagues to focus on achieving goals.

Desirable:

  • Understands organisational transformation challenges and how to operate in this context.
  • Has managed at least three projects with a budget of c£50k+ and staffing of three or more people. Or should we say experience managing complex projects with budgets of £50K+ and small teams.
  • Understanding of traditional and new technologies used in broadcast or digital media environments.

Contract: 6 month Fixed Term Contract
