About Police Digital Service
To protect people from harm in our rapidly changing world, police services must not only keep up with technology and business changes but develop capabilities and ways of working that will enable them to adapt to and deal with the complexity of modern criminality.
Police Digital Service strives to be the go-to partner for technology developments and programmes across UK policing. Our team provides technical advice and delivers services to help policing and law enforcement organisations across the UK prioritise and focus on technology efforts.
Our vision is to support UK policing to keep people safe, get more from technology investments and make better use of public money, and we’re always on the lookout for great talent to help us achieve this.
Role Summary
We are looking for a Recruitment Manager to join our team here at PDS. This new and exciting role will play an important part in helping us to position PDS as an employer of choice and attract diverse talent across all levels.
We want you to be passionate about delivering an outstanding candidate experience, and develop our recruitment strategy on a national level.
You will help PDS succeed by using your previous skills and knowledge to source, attract and hire talent while we go from strength to strength.
Operating as part of and reporting into the wider HR and Recruitment function, it is a “hands-on” role for a growing SME, encompassing activities at all levels of the spectrum, from transactional to strategic. Whether you are an experienced individual looking for a role where you can really make a difference or someone who has worked as part of a recruitment team for several years at a senior level with managerial responsibilities and are ready to take the next step in your career; if you are willing to roll up your sleeves and get stuck in at all levels, we want to hear from you.
Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement the talent acquisition strategy that promotes our employer brand and supports growth
  • Develop innovative candidate attraction strategies for active and passive talent
  • Lead the recruitment activities across the business, providing leadership and support to optimise recruitment processes and procedures
  • Lead the way on inclusive recruitment practices across the candidate journey, coaching and influencing stakeholders to raise the profile of talent diversity in the business
  • Develop, analyse and provide metrics regularly to identify actionable insights and recommendations
  • Evaluate and manage contracts and relationships with external vendors
  • Manage all recruitment spend within agreed budget
  • Review recruitment software and suggest the best option for company needs
  • Research and choose job advertising options which work best for our business
  • Streamline resourcing processes
  • Filter and shortlist CVs and applications
  • Act as a point of contact for all resourcing issues and matters

What you need to succeed in the role

  • Proven track record in a senior recruitment role with experience of recruiting for a variety of roles including high volume
  • Experience of developing and implementing talent acquisition strategies in a fast-paced growing business
  • Previous experience of leading and developing a team within recruitment with excellent knowledge of policies and practices
  • Excellent relationship building skills
  • Strong analytical skills with a flexible approach to problem solving
  • Strong communicator with the ability to work collaboratively across all levels
  • Hands on experience with applicant tracking systems (previous experience of Vacancy Filler would be an advantage but is not essential)

Why Join us?

  • Balance is important and we want you to take time off to recharge – so we offer 28 days’ annual leave plus bank holidays, rising to 30 days after 5 years of service
  • We care about your well-being – we have an employee assistance programme that offers not just welfare benefits and counselling at the end of a telephone line but also discounts
  • We want to help you plan for the future – so we offer an excellent pension scheme and life assurance cover
  • We want you to be able to put your mind at rest regarding your health – offering remote GP, mental health and physiotherapy appointments via video consultation
