Registered Nurse – specialising in Admitting and Discharging patients from the Theatre suite Full or Part Time

We have an exciting opportunity for a Registered Nurse to join our Newmedica Barlborough team and deliver outstanding care for our patients.


We are looking for someone who will thrive as part of a multidisciplinary team that includes Clinic Assistants, Ophthalmic Assistants, Patient Administrators, Nurses, ODPs, Ophthalmic Technicians, Optometrists, Registered Nurses, Scrub Practitioners and Consultant Ophthalmologists. What are we offering you?


  • A salary of £37,075.00
  • A company bonus of up to 12%, based on company performance and personal objectives (after initial qualifying period)

What will the role involve?


  • To safely deliver a range of admission procedures and assessments.
  • To communicate to patients discharge requirements, after care, medication and possible side effects for a range of ophthalmic surgeries.
  • Support and contribute to the delivery of safe and high-quality patient care in Theatres
  • To supervise and support Healthcare Assistants working within the Theatre suite.
  • To support the continuous quality improvement of all aspects of the Theatre service
  • Working in theatres supporting the delivery of Cataract, Oculoplastic and VR surgery to patients over 18 yrs.
  • Adherence to operating procedures and the completion of tasks to the agreed standards and frequency.

What skills and experience do I need for the role?

  • Nursing degree or equivalent qualification.
  • Current registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Council essential.
  • Experience of working in Ophthalmology desirable but not essential
  • Experience of working in Theatres desirable but not essential.
  • Previous experience of working in Admit / Discharge nursing roles.
  • ILS level training (Additional training to get ILS available via Newmedica)
